Another busy week, lots of nice weather and socialising and very little reading.  What can I say – I do sometimes get caught up in life just like any other person.  So, this week, my reading has not been good,  Not for the want of trying, I just don’t seem to have made a great deal of headway.  I’ve read one book and made progress on another.  I’ve also completed the first stage of my SPFBO books and cut the first five books.  My post here.

Here’s what I’ve been reading:

My books:

  1. A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie – review to follow

ALittleHatred

I’m still reading the House of Sacrifice and I’m hoping to complete the following books over the next week:

Next scheduled reads:

  1. The House of Sacrifice by Anna Smith Spark
  2. Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs
  3. Shadows of the Short Days by Alexander Dan Vilhjálmsson

Upcoming reviews

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
  3. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
  4. Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
  5. Queenslayer by Sebastien DeCastell
  6. A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

I didn’t do a weekly wrap up last week.  I’ve been having a kind of crazy chaotic July and things have simply got out of control, which has made it almost impossible to even crack open a book.  Anyway, this is my past two weeks wrap up – and it’s not very impressive in terms of numbers unfortunately – or reviews which I have now managed to get behind with again.  Why?  Is it asking too much that I simply catch up?  Really??

So, here’s what I’ve been reading:

My books:

  1. Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
  2. The Toll by Cherie Priest
  3. This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

I’m about a third of the way into Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and on top of this I’ve read 30% of my first SPFBO book and started the second – I need to speed up a little to make sure I’m on track – but, as mentioned above, life sort of got in the way this week.

Next scheduled reads:

  1. Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia Storm
  2. Cursed by Patricia Briggs
  3. The House of Sacrifice by Anna Smith Spark
  4. Shadows of the Short Days by Alexander Dan Vilhjálmsson
  5. Good Girl, Bad Girl by Michael Robotham

Upcoming reviews

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
  3. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
  4. Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
  5. The Toll by Cherie Priest
  6. This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
  7. Queenslayer by Sebastien DeCastell

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

June : My Month in Review

Well everyone, that’s it the first half of 2019 has flown by – I can’t believe how quickly this year is going to be honest but I am having a good time so no complaints.  SPFBO5 starts tomorrow and I will post my first six books then, the cover competition is already underway and my choices are here. and what a tough decision that was.  I’ve included my weekly wrap up in today’s post and also my month in covers which I usually post separately.

My weekly wrap up : 2 books read:

  1. Priest of Lies by Peter McLean
  2. Queenslayer by Sebstien deCastell

I also started Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa which, so far so good. And I’ve managed to catch up with some reviews.

My next reads:

  1. Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs
  2. Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
  3. The Toll by Cherie Priest

My month in review:

Books read:  this month = 9

  1. Queenslayer by Sebastien DeCastell
  2. Priest of Lies by Peter McLean
  3. The Fall by Tracy Townsend
  4. Limited Wish by Mark Lawrence
  5. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
  6. The Corset by Laura Purcell
  7. The Whisper Man by Alex North
  8. Nocturna by Maya Motayne
  9. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

My month in covers:

Total No. of Books for first half of 2019: 57

Backlist books

  1. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs

Silence

Unfinished series completed:

None this month

Books Bought:

None this momth

Audio Books Bought:

  1. Beautiful by Juliet Marilier

Beautiful

Review Books:

I think I’ve shown a good deal more restraint this month than last:

  1. Missing Person by Sarah Lotz
  2. The Girl with No Face by MH Boroson
  3. The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow
  4. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
  5. Ivory Apples by Lisa Goldstein
  6. The Truants by Kate Weinberg

Cover compare:

I actually like both covers – I really like the long spindly yellow coloured trees but I think the creepy headless horse is probably my favourite – wonder what it all signifies?

Which is your favourite?

Hope you’ve all had a good month.

Another week just flew by didn’t it.  I’m not sure why everything is rushing past me at breakneck speed at the moment but there it is.  I can barely remember what we’ve been up to so I’ll move swiftly on.  SPFBO5 is very nearly underway – starts at the beginning of July and I’ll be posting about how I plan to handle things this time around – I’ve already posted my covers in preparation for the cover contest and just need to select my three favourites – there are some impressive covers for sure, check them out here.  This week I’ve read three books, I did go off plan a little but read two of my scheduled books.  The Whisper Man was brilliant, I loved it and in fact it totally creeped me out one night – I was actually scared to go to bed (obviously bear in mind that I’m a raging wuss so it might not be quite as scary for others)!  I also read Nocturna and will have a review for that one shortly.  It didn’t work out quite as well as I’d hoped but I think that could just be me or a mood thing.  Finally, I picked up, Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – I just couldn’t resist all the glowing feedback it seems to be receiving and so far I’ve been really enjoying it.  I should have it finished before this post goes live so that makes a total of three books this week.  I did also start an audiobook but then was shockingly forgetful about listening to it whenever the opportunity arose.  Oh well, that’s what next week is for I suppose.  I’m a little behind with reviews but hoping to catch up with some next week which will make my blog seem a bit busier than normal (assuming I stick to my plans) but I would like to get back on track.

So, here’s what I’ve been reading:

My books:

  1. The Whisper Man by Alex North
  2. Nocturna by Maya Motayne
  3. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

Next scheduled reads:

  1. Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs
  2. Priest of Lies by Peter McLean
  3. Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa

Upcoming reviews

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
  3. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
  4. The Corset by Laura Purcell
  5. The Whisper Man by Alex North
  6. Nocturna by Maya Motayne
  7. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
