June : My Month in Review

Well everyone, that’s it the first half of 2019 has flown by – I can’t believe how quickly this year is going to be honest but I am having a good time so no complaints.  SPFBO5 starts tomorrow and I will post my first six books then, the cover competition is already underway and my choices are here. and what a tough decision that was.  I’ve included my weekly wrap up in today’s post and also my month in covers which I usually post separately.

My weekly wrap up : 2 books read:

  1. Priest of Lies by Peter McLean
  2. Queenslayer by Sebstien deCastell

I also started Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa which, so far so good. And I’ve managed to catch up with some reviews.

My next reads:

  1. Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs
  2. Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
  3. The Toll by Cherie Priest

My month in review:

Books read:  this month = 9

  1. Queenslayer by Sebastien DeCastell
  2. Priest of Lies by Peter McLean
  3. The Fall by Tracy Townsend
  4. Limited Wish by Mark Lawrence
  5. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
  6. The Corset by Laura Purcell
  7. The Whisper Man by Alex North
  8. Nocturna by Maya Motayne
  9. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

My month in covers:

Total No. of Books for first half of 2019: 57

Backlist books

  1. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs

Unfinished series completed:

None this month

Books Bought:

None this momth

Audio Books Bought:

  1. Beautiful by Juliet Marilier

Review Books:

I think I’ve shown a good deal more restraint this month than last:

  1. Missing Person by Sarah Lotz
  2. The Girl with No Face by MH Boroson
  3. The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow
  4. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
  5. Ivory Apples by Lisa Goldstein
  6. The Truants by Kate Weinberg

Cover compare:

I actually like both covers – I really like the long spindly yellow coloured trees but I think the creepy headless horse is probably my favourite – wonder what it all signifies?

Which is your favourite?

Hope you’ve all had a good month.

I have to read Limited Wish yet, and Sorcery of Thorns- such an amazing cover!

    • @lynnsbooks

I love the Sorcery of Thorns cover = it’s just excellent.
      Lynn 😀

It’s been a great reading year for you so far, Lynn:). And June has been no exception – I’m quite shaken at the speed the coming SPFBO5 has come round… I hope the coming month is another good reading month, Lynn.

The year is half over? how in the world did that even happen??

Have you started Ivory Apples yet? it looks really good!

    • @lynnsbooks

I know – where is the time going.
Not yet – it’s not due for release for a couple of months and my July is a bit stupid busy so I’ll have to be patient. Or maybe i won’t.
      Lynn 😀

I can’t wait to read your reviews of Priest of Lies and The Corset😁 And I also love both covers of The Truants. I think a slight edge goes to the horse cover though😊

    • @lynnsbooks

Priest of Lies is tomorrow and hopefully Corset on Thursday.
That Truant cover is a bit Godfather isn’t it.
      Lynn 😀

It looks like you had a really good month.

I’ve got about a billion books I want to start at the same time because they all look so good and they’re all coming out at around the same time, but will you look at that the month is already over! Soul of the Sword is high priority and so is Sorcery of Thorns. Then The Toll and The Whisper Man and and and oh why do I even bother trying to plan 😛

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah, my planning is the weekly wrap ups – which do help to keep me on track but even with those I go off schedule frequently.
      Lynn 😀

Great month! I’m also picking up soul of the sword today!

    • @lynnsbooks

I need to get back to it – about a third of the way in but have done absolutely no reading today at all.
      Lynn 😀

      • evelynreads1

        Well that happens sometimes haha

  8. PerfectlyTolerable

I think I like the horse cover better even tho I find the decapitated head unappealing haha

    • @lynnsbooks

      I know – it’s a bit ‘Godfather-ish’ isn’t it.
      Lynn 😀

Restraint? Don’t know her. 😀 And can’t wait to see what you think of The Toll! Horror books don’t generally scare me, but the synopsis for this one sounds super creepy and promising.

    • @lynnsbooks

I loved Cherie Priest’s last book Family Plot so I’m really excited about the Toll and in fact I’m starting it this evening.
      Lynn 😀

Looks like a pretty good month, Lynn! I’ve actually been pretty good lately about getting new books. I hope I can keep it up because my backlist is ridiculous, hah. Hope July is awesome for you!

Well done Lynn – Great reading for the month and for the first half of the year! 😀
