Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. There are so many books for this week’s theme so I can’t wait to see what everyone came up with. I discarded quite a few – and I know that at the back of my mind I have a particular cover that really scared me but I just couldn’t dredge it up. However, I think that Coraline by Neil Gaiman has some brilliant covers and the Other Mother gives me the serious heebees with all the buttons and needles and eyes *shivers*. There are a lot of covers for this book, as you may imagine, so I’ve selected only a few:

I had two or three books this week but eventually went for : Skitter (The Hatching #2) by Ezekiel Boone:
I’m not overly keen on the top three covers to be honest and I have no idea what the idea behind the third cover is at all. It certainly stands out in this bunch as the odd one out. I like the bottom two covers. I like the purple and black but on balance my favourite is:

I thought I would have had more books to choose from with a fire theme but I’ve already used a couple in the past and didn’t want to reuse them so I’ve gone this time for Blackwing (Raven’s Mark #1) by Ed McDonald:
The first cover really fits the theme this week – it looks like a fire is blazing at the back of the character and it almost has the appearance of black ash raining down upon him. My favourite:

Trick or treat – A halloween inspired cover
My cover this week doesn’t have skeletons, pumpkins and witches but a scary house – I always associate creepy, haunted looking houses with Halloween and so this one fits (in my head at least) plus the colours – and middle row, middle cover – does put me in mind of the weirdest ever carved pumpkin. The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson.
And my favourite – I couldn’t find a really good version of this one for some reason but I like it. The flies crawling over the top of the book, the font that scoops down into a devil’s tail and the house with it’s glowing eye-like windows – in fact the end of the tale almost gives the house an expression – like a sinister grin.
