#SPFBO Cover Competition

black

If you’re familiar with this blog you’ll be aware that for the past three years I’ve taken part in the Self Published Fantasy Blog Off (SPFBO) created by Mark Lawrence (check out the details here).  Basically the SPFBO is a competition for self published authors.  Each year 300 books are submitted, 10 judges are awarded 30 books each, each judge submits one book to the final stage and finally one book, with the highest rating wins the competition.  As the contest begins we have a cover competition.  Below are the 30 covers for my books (list of titles and authors can be found here). I will be choosing 3 covers from the titles below to submit for the contest.  I already have 3 in mind and will post my choices on Friday – but, I want to give the authors a chance to check my list and ensure I have the most uptodate covers.

So, here they are – and there are some lovelies to feast your eyes on:

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic.  Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by  The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here.  This week’s topic is all about the covers – covers in red, white and blue.  I think this is something I can deliver.  Covers is my thing.  Lots of covers here along the general lines of the theme (I think I may have used slightly more than ten:

And there was June – come and gone in the blink of an eye.  I’ve read seven books this month which is less than normal but I’ve been trying to catch up with reviews and I’ve made quite a bit of progress.  Hope you’ve all had a most excellent June.  I’ve had some great books over the past six months.  My reading so far this year is here and I’ve managed a total of 52 books (which is a little less than normal but plenty of time to catch up).  Hope the first half of the year has been good for you all. My Month in Covers is here.

Books read:  this month = 8

  1. Legendary by Stephanie Gerber
  2. The Burning Chambers by Kate Mosse
  3. The Last Sun (The Tarot Sequence #1) by K.D. Edwards
  4. Bitter Sun by Beth Lewis
  5. Witchmark by C L Polk
  6. Ravencry by Ed McDonald
  7. Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

Review Books:

  1. The Mystery of Three Quarters by Sophie Hannah – very excited for this one, a new Poirot novel
  2. Bitter Sun by Beth Lewis – I’ve already read this one and my review will follow shortly – it’s a harsh tale that doesn’t pull any punches but beautifully written
  3. One of Us by Craig DiLouie – sounds like a cautionary tale and one I’m really looking forward to.
  4. Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce – I was so happy to be granted a copy of this one, it’s my first TP novel, I’m very excited
  5. The Ember Blade by Chris Wooding, again, not read CW before so really looking forward to this one and check out the lovely cover.
  6. Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett – OMG – I actually adore RJB (not in a stalker bunny boiler fashion).  He’s a fantastic author and he’s on my must read list.
  7. No Sleep Till Doomsday by Laurence MacNaughton – such a great series, going from strength to strength.

I have a couple of covers to compare and one particular cover to highlight.
