Another speedy week flies by.  I didn’t quite achieve what I wanted to this week – although I did read The Fallen Kingdom and my review for that will follow shortly and I’m 50% into Prey of Gods – and loving it.  Absolutely loving it.

Another shocking week, my heart goes out to London.

Which is your favourite?

A quick wrap up – I’ve been away for the past week with family and so behind with blogging.  I have mostly managed to read the books I set out to read in my wrap up last week but all this has really done is make me further behind with reviews.  So, some catching up is in order.

Also, although this is a book blog, I must make a quick heart felt mention for the victims and their families after this week’s terrible terrorist attack in Manchester.  I really feel for you all.  It’s just so very sad and incomprehensible.

  1. Between The Stars by Anne Corlett
  2. All Good Things by Emma Newman
  3. Skitter by Ezekiel Boone – still reading this but I imagine it will be complete by this evening so I’m including it on here.

Next week I’m hoping to read:

compared with:

I think both sets are really good but I love the top set – the colours are just so dramatic and eye catching.  Which is your favourite?

This week I’ve finished Rotherweird -I enjoyed this but I’m just going to be perfectly frank – this is not a quick read, I’m not saying that because it’s a bad thing, I’m simply stating the fact.  Yes, of course, I’m sure you could skim read it and make it a bit quicker but the pace is not that of a book that you’re going to zip though.  It’s a thinking person’s book.  You need to mull and chew the cud and reflect.  Review to follow.  I’ve also read Andrew Pyper’s The Only Child and hopefully my review for that one will be forthcoming very soon – check out the first couple of sentences here.

Next week I’m hoping to read :

  1. Between The Stars by Anne Corlett
  2. All Good Things by Emma Newman
  3. Skitter by Ezekiel Boone

So, who am I kidding with that three book wishlist! Hey I have to have aspirations and reading three books in a week is about all I can think of at the moment.

And, finally, my cover highlight this week, I’ve gone for the Split World series by Emma Newman:

I’m not even going to bother with excuses about life taking over – I’m sounding like a scratched record for the past few weeks.  Anyway, I read one of my books and nearly finished the second.  I caught up with a couple of reviews and, yes, I was busy.  But, I’m getting there, things are coming together I think and so hopefully normalcy will soon resume:

  1. The Curious Affair of the Somnambulist & the Psychic Thief (The Curious Affair Of #1) by Lisa Tuttle – complete and to be reviewed
  2. Rotherweird by Andrew Caldecott – this one is  very entertaining but definitely a book you have to take your time with I think.  Nearly finished.

Next week I’m hoping to complete Rotherweird and then to pick up:

  1. The Only Child by Andrew Pyper
  2. The Space Between the Stars by Anne Corlett

And, finally, my cover compare this week:

I have to go with the first cover – I just find it really eerie – probably because it’s so real and it gives me this thriller type vibe.

I don’t know about everyone else but my week has been exhausting lots going on at work and on top of that lots going on at home, plus hard work and other chores means I actually had very little time for reading.  In fact I’ve even been going to bed early – this is unheard of!  What next.  Anyway, the only book I’ve managed to read is:

  1. Owl and the Electric Samurai by Kristi Charish

Next week I’m hoping my life will move into the quiet lane and I can spend some time chilling (and reading).  I’m hoping to pick up:

  1. The Curious Affair of the Somnambulist & the Psychic Thief (The Curious Affair Of #1) by Lisa Tuttle
  2. Rotherweird by Andrew Caldecott

And, finally, my cover compare this week:

I have to go with the more striking cover this week.
