This week I haven’t finished any of my books – simply because I’ve got a few books on the go all at once, and yet again the week flew by too quickly due to everything going on.  We had a party for friends and family last Bank Holiday weekend which was great, the weather stayed good but it took a lot of planing, preparation and clearing up after!  On top of that I had a couple of my SPFBO books to check out.  I’m now ready to move onto the next batch and a post will follow shortly to outline the next five on my list.  So, here’s what I’m reading and hoping to complete this week:

  1. An Alchemy of Masques and Shadows by Curtis Craddock
  2. Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
  3. Sea of Rust by C Robert Cargill

My cover compare this week:

I like both of these covers.  I particularly like the gorgeous font of the first but I also love the detail in the second.

Hope you all had a good week.  What you currently reading?

What a week, frankly it’s been awesome, but, alas, not in a bookish way.  Much too much socialising and parties – perhaps because the sun poked its head out from behind the clouds momentarily we all went punch drunk with madness.  Anyway, as a result, I’ve only read one of my books this weeks:

Hope you all had a good week.  Here is my book:

  1. The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz – I really enjoyed this, different and compelling.

Next week I’m hoping to read:

  1. Swarm and Steel by Michael R Fletcher
  2. The Turn by Kim Harrison

Wow – what a paltry week eh!  Still, there’s always next week!

August is slowly diminishing, the summer is rolling onwards apace. This has been a busy month for me on a personal level and my reading has slowed somewhat – I’m not experiencing a slump in books more that I just have so many things occupying my time.  Still, I have read a couple of books and I now need to write a few reviews up.

Hope you all had a good week.  Here are my books:

  1. The Curious Affair of the Witch of Wayside Cross by Lisa Tuttle
  2. The Punch Escrow by Tal M. Klein

I’m still reading Naamah’s Blessing by Jacqueline Carey, this is for a readalong that I’m behind for but hoping to catch up soon.  I’m also still listening to Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and loving it.

Next week I’m hoping to read:

  1. Swarm and Steel by Michael R Fletcher
  2. The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz
  3. The Turn by Kim Harrison

My cover compare this week is for a book that I’m really looking forward to – very much:

I love the first cover – the colours, the fairytale feel, the tower, everything, but then the second cover is gorgeous too – it reminds me of a beautiful tapestry topped with Christmas icing.  I can’t choose.  What’s your favourite?

I’ve had a great week and hope you all have too.  In fairness, I’ve not been brilliant with my reading because there’s been such a lot going on in my personal life but it’s all good – socialising and visiting relatives is always good.

Anyway, hope you all had an enjoyable week.  Here are my books:

  1. Princess of Blood by Tom Lloyd – I did start this one a couple of weeks ago and the fact I’m behind is not a reflection of the book – simply that I’ve not had much sit down time.
  2. Snowspelled by Stephanie Burgis

I’m still reading Naamah’s Blessing by Jacqueline Carey, this is for a readalong that I’m behind for but hoping to catch up soon.  I’m also still listening to Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and loving it.

Next week I’m hoping to read:

  1. The Turn by Kim Harrison
  2. The Curious Affair of the Witch of Wayside Cross by Lisa Tuttle
  3. Swarm and Steel by Michael R Fletcher

Cover compare:

For me the second cover is the winner – I love these dramatic covers.

It’s difficult to believe but we are into August!  Somebody took great pleasure on Friday in telling me that we had only 140+ days until Christmas for goodness sake – the mince pies and decorations will be in the shops probably in another month (*shakes fist) and I still don’t feel like I’ve had a summer.  Still, time flies when you’re having fun – exactly how much fun am I having right now eh!

Anyway, hope you all had a good week.  Here are my books – although not much this past week:

  1. The Stillhouse Lake by Rachel – which was a step out of character for me and a real page turner to boot.

I’m also reading Naamah’s Blessing by Jacqueline Carey, this is for a readalong that I’m behind for but hoping to catch up this week.  I’m also about a third into Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and loving it.

Next week I’m hoping to read:

  1. Princess of Blood by Tom Lloyd – I did start this one a couple of weeks ago and the fact I’m behind is not a reflection of the book – simply that I’ve not had much sit down time.
  2. Snowspelled by Stephanie Burgis
  3. The Turn by Kim Harrison
