Weekly Wrap Up : 21/01/18
‘You shall not pass’ – and ‘It burns us, it freezes us’
Thought I’d share these pictures of Gandalf and Gollum. Hope you’ve all had a good week with plenty going on. I think the biggest event this week was part of the ceiling unexpectedly falling down a couple of days ago! That was novel. On the book side I’ve read two of my expected reads this week and I’ve started a new book. I’m still reading Waking Fire by Anthony Ryan although I need to pick up the pace now and I haven’t managed to start The Chrysalids yet.
Books read:
- The War of Undoing by Alex Perry (my first SPFBO book)
- The Feed by Nick Clark Windo
Next Week’s Reads:
- The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock Imogen Hermes Gowar
- Start The Chrysalids by John Wyndham (Vintage Sci Fi book)
- The Belles Dhonielle Clayton
Upcoming reviews:
- Starborn by Lucy Hounsom
- Envy of Angels by Matt Wallace
- The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
- The War of Undoing by Alex Perry (my first SPFBO book)
- The Feed by Nick Clark Windo
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
I love that artwork! Im sorry about you ceiling, how scary! I’m still reading Senlin Ascends but it’s been going slow because I keep stopping to read short stories. Hopefully I can get a good chunk read today.
The artwork is brilliant isn’t it. I can’t even fathom creating something like that on such a huge scale.
The ceiling – not as dramatic as it sounds – just a small chunk that fell – and nobody was hurt (although it would definitely have given someone a headache if they’d been standing in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Lynn 😀
I’m sorry: did you say part of your ceiling fell?! =O
Yep – not quite as dramatic as it sounds but it did give us all a scare.
Lynn 😀
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your ceiling! How was The Feed? I started it but put it aside for some books coming out sooner here (that one doesnt release until March in the US). I really enjoyed what I read of it.
I enjoyed The Feed and writing up my review today.
Lynn 😀
Oh I hope the ceiling hasn’t done too much damage at that it can be relatively easily fixed! This week, after finishing Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi, I have been completely absorbed by dark historical fiction The Plague Charmer by Karen Maitland. Happy reading!
The ceiling isn’t too big an issue fortunately – all fixed now.
Lynn 😀
Phew! 🙂
Eek! What the ceiling fall-in connected to a water leak in any way? I’ve know of that happening before… I hope it isn’t too long before you get it fixed as it will be hard to keep the house warm enough! I liked the sound of The Feed, I hope you enjoyed it and am looking forward to your review. I hope the coming week is less eventful!
I really enjoyed The Feed – writing my review now. The ceiling isn’t a problem – it was already cracked so we were aware and it was only a small section.
Lynn 😀
Well, that’s a relief! The ceiling, I mean… Looking forward to reading your review regarding The Feed…
It was an intriguing book, I liked the reveal – which was unexpected and there’s definitely some food for thought.
Lynn 😀
Wait! Your ceiling fell in?!?! Is everyone ok? Any damage?
Can’t wait to see what you think of The Belles and The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock!
A little bit of damage but nothing major and not as dramatic as it sounds – just made us jump.
I really liked the Belles – and I’m looking forward to starting The Mermaids.
Lynn 😀
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Belles. I’m super stoked for that one. Oh no, what happened with the ceiling. Hope everyone is ok. Would like to say I’ve never had that happen but nope, it did. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks – everyone fine. Not really as dramatic as it sounds just made us all jump more than anything else.
The Belles was really good. YA but very enjoyable.
Lynn 😀
Gosh I’m glad no one was hurt in the ceiling collapse. Everyone IS okay right? :O
Yep, everything fine thanks. A bit distracting and made us all jump but not as dramatic as it sounds 😀
Oh jeez, is everyone okay re: the ceiling?! I hope so. And in bookish news, I’m excited to hear what you think of The Belles!
I really enjoyed The Belles, YA doesn’t always work for me but this one was quite captivating. Probably not for everyone as lots of descriptions of dresses and hair, etc, but it pulled me in.
Lynn 😀
