I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week. I rather got out of the habit of doing this last year but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track. So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s Caffeinated Reviewer. Without further ado:
Last week
So, the last week the weather was slightly nicer, or at least not as wet, which encouraged me to run round the house washing everything and cleaning windows and doors and frames. Lots of fun really – although it also gave me the opportunity to listen to my audio book so – silver linings. I read The Moonsteel Crown by Stephen Deas and my review for that should be posted tomorrow. I also read and already posted my review for Darkness Forged by Matt Larkin, you can find that review below. I started The Black Song by Anthony Ryan, I’m only about 10% in but first impressions are good already. Finally I’m approximately 80% into Bjorn Larssen’s The Children which I suspect I will finish this evening.
Next Week
Firstly, hoping to complete The Children and The Black Song. I’m thinking I will also make good progress with We Lie With Death which I think I’ve probably listened to about 40/50% already and enjoying it very much. From my other forthcoming books this week I have three books to choose from. Witherward by Hannah Matthewson, The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse and The Echo Wife by Sarah Galley. Plus, I have a forthcoming SPFBO book that I will be posting about next weekend.
Reviews Posted since last Sunday:

- The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins

Forthcoming Reviews:

Last week
I completed and reviewed The Mask of Mirrors. I also started and finished The Shape of Darkness by Laura Purcell (review to be posted this forthcoming week). I’m also 50% into Juliet Marillier’s Daughter of the Forest which I’m buddy reading with Mayri over at the Bookforager. I’m also listening/reading to We Lie With Death by Devin Madson.
Next Week
I’m hoping to complete We Lie With Death and start listening to the audio version of Paternus: War of Gods by Dyrk Ashton. I will also be reading my SPFBO book Nether Light by Shaun Paul Stevens. Ambitious? Perhaps a little bit – let’s see how I get on. Something about the best laid plans.

Weekly Wrap Up : 15th March 2020
Well, this has been a very odd week, not very conducive to reading or blogging or anything else really. I hope you’re all doing everything you can to stay safe. In my reading plans. I started Rage of Dragons but was struggling a little to get into the story so I’ve put that down for now. I think it’s probably just a mood thing. I read Smoke Bitten which was a really good instalment in the Mercy Thompson series. Keep Him Close – I’ve decided to DNF this one. It’s not a bad book so please don’t be put off by me, I just don’t think I was in the right frame of mind for this one, it’s more drama than mystery. I’ve now picked up You Let Me In which is good so far and I’m also about 2/3 into The God of Gnomes which I should complete in the next few days.
- Smoke Bitten by Patricia Briggs
- Keep Him Close by Emily Koch DNF
What I’m reading next week:
- The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
- You Let Me in by Camilia Bruce
- Night Of The Dragon by Julie Kagawa
Upcoming Reviews:
- King of the Road by RS Belcher
- The Absinthe Earl by Sharon Lynn Fisher
- King of Assassins by RJ Barker
- Starsight by Brandon Sanderson (audio) – I have made progress and I’m really enjoying it so should finish it probably Monday.
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

It’s March – it’s actually March. Who can believe it. I’ve had a busy week again – I sound like a scratched record. Basically, same old, same old. I read two of my planned books this week. Also nearly finished another SPFBO and will soon be starting the next – I need to catch up with my titles over March and April but I’m chilled about it because I’ve not got as many review books over the next two months. So, what did I read this week:
- Crownbreaker by Sebastien deCastell – which was a great ending to a wonderful series. Review here.
- The Memory Wood by Sam Lloyd – which I absolutely loved. And my review is here.
