“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. Every Wednesday we get to highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to. My book this week is : Avengers of the Moon by Allen Steele. It simply must be fated for me to read this book (of course true scientific minds don’t believe in fate). But, ignoring the logical and moving swiftly on, I just read a lovely review of a short story by this author over on Space and Sorcery and so decided to go and check out his other works and boom! I found this – serendipity eh!

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. Every Wednesday we get to highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to. My book this week is : A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers – now, you may be wondering what I’m doing highlighting this book for a WoW when in actual fact it was released a few days ago. Well, three fold, firstly, I’m still waiting on it so there’s that (okay, that’s a very skimpy excuse because I just haven’t ‘one clicked’ yet! but, even so), secondly, yesterday saw the start of SciFi Month 2016 which I’ve signed up for and am highlighting all things sci fi as much as possible; and thirdly, there’s a readalong planned for this book with a few other mighty swell bloggers – due to take place in December I’ll post further details as soon as the schedule is posted.

My book this week is : Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. Oh my giddy aunt! Norse mythology. Neil Gaiman. Do I really need to say it again. Okay. Third time’s the charm: Norse Mythology – Neil Gaiman. Colour me happy.
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales.
In Norse Mythology, Gaiman stays true to the myths in envisioning the major Norse pantheon: Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring, and cunning; Thor, Odin’s son, incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods; and Loki son of a giant, blood brother to Odin and a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator.
Gaiman fashions these primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds and delves into the exploits of deities, dwarfs, and giants.
