So, today was the cover reveal for Mitriel Faywood’s debut novel A Gamble of Gods, the first in the Order of the Dragon series. Petrik, over at Novel Notions revealed the cover earlier today (stop over to his blog because he’s got all the information going on and an absolutely delicious looking post), and, it’s had a rush of interest on Twitter and Facebook. Obviously, given my affection for covers, I wanted to continue to help spread the love. This is going to be a short post mainly focusing on the new design plus the book description to whet your appetite. I’ve read this one and will be posting a much more comprehensive post shortly in which I’ll go into my thoughts on the book (spoiler alert – it’s good!).
Let’s look at the cover then…
Firstly, I love the font for this. Secondly, take a look at the jacket below which looks downright classy. Thirdly, two dragons depicted – me likey some dragons. Fourthly, and perhaps I should have mentioned this first, the characters expressions are perfect, I mean literally it’s like the artist was in the author’s head – which, ouch, but also good (or maybe bad – what a dilemma).
The description off Goodreads:
“Life used to be good. I had money. I had fame. I had respect. The same thrill during work every day. A different woman in my bed every night. Best fighter to hire for dangerous jobs. Most famous thief in the Nineteen Kingdoms. Half the world sought my services when they needed the impossible done. The other half wanted to sleep with me.
Then one day this strange guy showed up with his even stranger pet, the latter a bit of a gift horse by all accounts, and turned it all upside down. They claimed to have come to save my life, and while they were at it, I got them to help out with the most important quest of my existence: finding the Supreme Key of the Dragon. Needless to say, none of it turned out quite how I expected. But we had fun, even if it was hell sometimes. In the end, what we found was worth it all.
My name is Conor Drew, the Gods destined me for great things.
But I turned them down.”
The description from the Jacket (which did I mention already looks downright classy – twice can’t possibly hurt after all):
“Kristian del Rosso has led a quiet life, burying himself in research and teaching at the University of St Mark. The arrival of a mysterious killer with supernatural abilities and the bloody massacre of a group of Kristian’s students changes all that. Kristian’s grief and a need for answers drives him to set out after their murderer, prepared to face the man but unprepared for what awaits him at the source of it all.
Conor Drew lives for the thrill of adventure and to explore the delights of as many beautiful women as one man can in a lifetime. Between dangerous jobs for the wealthy aristocracy and powerful figures in the underworld of the Nineteen Kingdoms, he’s seen more than most. And yet it isn’t until his greatest friend and biggest enemy both find him on the same day that his true odyssey begins.
Selena Soto is a woman lost in her own world. She struggles to fit into her existence, to find meaning and purpose—even progress at work eludes her. Meeting the right man might be a good first step, or perhaps just defining what it is she really wants from life. Little does she realise that only her own fears keep her from a destiny that’s greater than she could imagine.
The trio will soon learn that only by working as a team can they solve the puzzle that has drawn them together.”
So peeps – whaddya think?

Today I’m really excited to be taking part in a cover reveal for a book by an author whose work I really enjoy.
Phil Williams is a fantastically creative fantasy writer whose books include the Under Ordshaw series and more recently Kept From Cages and Given to Darkness.
This post is an opportunity to join in with a number of other blogs to shine the spotlight on his most recent book and reveal that ever important cover.
Firstly, here’s the description to whet your appetite:
Kit hung up her brass knuckles, but she never stopped fighting. She abandoned the dark arts, but the shadows lingered. And now her past is back to haunt her. There’s a new witch in town, working with a ruthless gang to stamp out rivals – no matter how long ago they quit.
An old friend warns Kit that her neighbourhood is under attack. Kit herself is a target. Her former gang are scared stiff and her magic-wielding bandmates are long gone. She dreads reviving her destructive nature, and can’t dust off the spellbook – not after what happened last time. But what choice does she have?
Besides, she rarely gets to enjoy a good brawl anymore.
Decades older, a little wiser, and contrary as ever, Kit’s going to remind them all what a punk witch can do.
Now, doesn’t that sound amazing??
Secondly, for the part we’ve all been waiting for – the cover – and believe me it’s well worth the wait:

This really is a stunning cover. I feel positively giddy with anticipation.
A little bit about the author:
Phil Williams writes contemporary fantasy and dystopian fiction and non-fiction grammar guides. His novels include the interconnected Ordshaw urban fantasy thrillers, the post-apocalyptic Estalia saga and the action-packed Faergrowe series. He also runs the website English Lessons Brighton, and writes reference books to help foreign learners master the nuances of English.
Phil lives with his wife by the coast in Sussex, UK, and now spends a great deal of time walking his impossibly fluffy dog, Herbert.

Today I’m really pleased and excited to be hosting a cover reveal for Phil Williams Ordshaw Vignettes. You may have noticed the blog tour recently in which a number of bloggers shared small snippets of life from Ordshaw? If not my post is here for a quick taster.
The Ordshaw Vignettes Vol. 1 is the collected short stories from Phil Williams’ recent blog tour, complementing the release of The Violent Fae. This eBook anthology includes 12 self-contained flash mysteries where strange goings-on impact the lives of otherwise ordinary (mostly!) people. All the stories are already available to read online, so this book is offered for convenience, and for the sake of a spangly new cover (because we all love a spangly new cover).
Note the eBook will be up on Amazon for a nominal fee, and will be shared free for members of Phil’s mailing list.
Anyway, enough chat, this is the part we really want to get to – THE COVER:
I’ve included some useful links below and also here are the rest of the books in the series so you can check them all out together:

Today I’m really pleased to be sharing with you the cover for Ben Galley’s forthcoming book : Chasing Graves. This is the first instalment in a new trilogy that sounds deliciously dark and decidedly promising. Chasing Graves takes place in the City of Araxes where the only thing you can be certain of is ‘death is only the beginning’. More information below but for now feast your eyes on the cover:
Wait for it…
Wait for it…..
Are you not entertained? Maybe scared? Or just downright intrigued? Of course, you’re all three and so below is a little more information to whet your appetite:
Meet Caltro Basalt. He’s a master locksmith, a selfish bastard, and as of his first night in Araxes, stone cold dead.
They call it the City of Countless Souls, the colossal jewel of the Arctian Empire, and all it takes to rule is to own more ghosts than any other. For in Araxes, the dead do not rest in peace in the afterlife, but live on as slaves for the rich.
While Caltro struggles to survive, those around him strive for the emperor’s throne in Araxes’ cutthroat game of power. The dead gods whisper from corpses, a soulstealer seeks to make a name for himself with the help of an ancient cult, a princess plots to purge the emperor from his armoured Sanctuary, and a murderer drags a body across the desert, intent on reaching Araxes no matter the cost.
Only one thing is certain in Araxes: death is only the beginning.
Now, if you’re anything like me you probably need just a tad more information. So, firstly, and most importantly, I think, when is this little beauty due for release: December 7th 2018 (eBook & Paperback). That’s right, make a note in your diary, free your schedule, pre order one today 😀
If you want to know more about the cover, which obviously you do, look no further:

And, if that wasn’t enough and you’re scratching your bonce thinking ‘hey up, don’t I know this author’- well, yes, you probably do. Go check out his goodreads page for a starter – very impressive list of books right there. And, here are my reviews for Ben’s SPFBO book, Bloodrush and his emotionally loaded Heart of Stone.
I’m very excited to read this one.
