I had a few covers I fancied using for this one. but I’ve settled on The Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien because I think the covers are perfect for this theme. I’ve not used all of the covers (that would be a long post indeed) I’ve chosen covers that I think fit this week’s theme so you might not see covers that you’re as familiar with:
My favourite this week :
I love this cover. It just fits the ‘feel’ of the start of the trilogy. Which is your favourite?

“After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one’s own relations.” – a cover featuring a family
Well, I really struggled with this one. I knew that Spoonbenders had a cover with a family on it, but I’ve used that before (I think) so wanted to avoid it. Then I thought of The Sisters Mederos which is a recent read that I enjoyed but there’s only the one cover at the moment. Finally, I came up with a childhood read, The Borrowers by Mary Norton – no shortage of covers for this one!
My favourite this week is the one with the family helping to hang up the title of the book with all the reels of cotton and chess pieces in the picture to give you the idea of the scale of the people:

‘A little soil to make it grow’ – a cover featuring seeds/spores
I had two books that immediately sprang to mind with this one and I’ve chosen to go with a science fiction novel about alien seeds that grow into perfect human replications: Invasion of the Body Snatchers by Jack Finney:
To be frank I’m not overly keen on any of these covers. The top two are depictions of the seed pods where replicate human bodies are grown – they’re not the nicest covers I’ve ever seen. The final cover I think is showing the seeds falling to earth whilst people sleep unaware of the terrible change that is about to take place – I quite like that cover. I think my favourite will have to be the original cover just purely because of the retro feel:

I think there’s quite a few book titles available for this week’s theme. It will be interesting to see what everyone chooses. My choice : Tower Lord (Raven’s Shadow #2) by Anthony Ryan
I must say I rather like the cover with the figure riding away on horseback but, I’m going to be predictable this week and go with a cover that I’m familiar with:

‘I got no strings to hold me down’ – a cover featuring a doll or puppet
This week I had one specific book in mind and thankfully it had two covers so thank goodness for that – I suspect there will be some excellent books (not to mention possibly creepy) this week My book is a read that I thoroughly enjoyed and definitely falls into the dark and creepy bracket: The Motion of Puppets by Keith Donohue
The cover on the right is the one I’m familiar with and it certainly is dramatic. But, I have to go for :
