All good things to those who wait…

This week over at the Broke and Bookish the Topic is Top Ten Books Films I’m looking forward to in 2015.  Yes, I’ve cheated a little and decided to list some movies I have my beady eye upon!  Sorry, I know this is a big cheat but (rules are made for breaking an all that!) and, more to the point, as I’ve just done my Winter reads and anticipated sequels fairly recently it was looking likely that I’d be going over some old ground:

  1. Cinderella  – expected March (a bit girlie but so what!)  It’s Cinderella – what’s the worst that can happen? I don’t like it..
  2. Jurassic World – June 2015 – I have to see it right?  I’ve seen all the others and then I can compare and contrast, nit pick, etc.
  3. Terminator: Genisys – July 2015 – just, I’ll be back!!
  4. Ant Man – July 2015 – Marvel, nuff said
  5. Pan – July 2015 – Pan!
  6. Victor Frankenstein – October 2015 – how many Frankenstein films do we really need.  Apparently one more. But, James McAvoy.  That is all.
  7. Crimson Peak – October 2015 – Guilermo del Toro people!
  8. The Martian – November 2015 – mixed feelings about this one.  Will be interesting to see how well they capture the book!
  9. James Bond – November 2015?? – You simply have to watch Bond.  007! Shaken not stirred!
  10. Star Wars: The Force Awakens – December 2015 – Another mixed feelings – I still prefer the original films!  But, who am I trying to kid – I will watch this!  There is no try!

So, books or films – what are you desperate to see released in 2015???

Be there or be E = mc2

As one door closes another one opens up…  Sci Fi November comes to an end today.  A great event run by Rinn Reads and Oh, the Books! and The Sci-fi Experience over at Stainless Steel Droppings begins tomorrow.  This event also coincides during the month of January with Little Red Reviewer’s Vintage Sci Fi.   So, I console myself with the fact that even though I didn’t read everything I intended during the month of November I can continue with my sci-fi exploration during the next couple of months.

Both of these events are very relaxed  There are no real rules – well, the only real rule is that you enjoy yourself!

I’ve made some lists:

Reading that I completed for Sci-Fi November:

  1. Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie
  2. Ellie Quin in Wonderland by Alex Scarrow

Reading lined up so far for the Sci-Fi Experience:

  1. Fortune’s Pawn
  2. Leviathan Wakes by James S A Corey
  3. The Time Traveller’s Almanac – I probably won’t read all of this but thought I’d take a look at some of it; and maybe
  4. Dust by Hugh Howey – try and finish the Wool Trilogy

Reading lined up so far for Vintage Sci-Fi:

  1. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
  2. A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs
  3. Starship Troopers by Robert A Heinlein
  4. The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Let’s face it – I’m probably not going to manage all of that but I like the look of lists – they just seem so orderly and organised!

Anyway, lots of sci-fi goodness awaits on the horizon – all that you need to do is jump on board.

That’s it for me – over and out!

Follow the white rabbit…

Art it Up.  This is a weekly meme hosted by Tabitha over at Not Yet Read.  The idea being to see if you can come up with some inspiration for a little sketch or doodle from your last week’s reading or just anything else in general. Again, this week my reading has not been brilliant  I’ve read Ellie Quin by Alex Sparrow and just finished Iron Night by M L Brennan (which I loved, review to follow).  Lots of things going on at the moment – not least of which a short break away which I’ll be heading out on shortly.  Follow my trail of breadcrumbs and see if you can guess where – unfortunately I haven’t been able to come up with any fan art this week (skinwalkers – not even going to try and go there!)

😦

Then stop over and check out the lovely Tabitha’s creative endeavours for the week!

Spins a web, any size. Catches thieves, just like flies…

This week Nathan over at the Fantasy Review Barn has decided to take us on a really Tough Travelling journey.  Through the tropes of creepy crawlies, insects, bugs, spiders and the like (brrr):

‘BUGS- Not in the Tough Guide but it should be. Let’s all find anything creepy or crawly, big or small, six legs, eight legs, or more. Bugs, bugs, bugs.’

Shelob – Lord of the Rings by Tolkien – one big ass spider!

Harry Potter by JKRowling – Aragog – not to mention a legion of other massive spiders (all related!!)

Charlotte’s Web by E B White – Charlotte is the spider – clearly – otherwise what the hell does she have a web for.  But, contrary to our feelings she’s a good spider!

James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl – an excellent story and packed full of insects – none of which make James run away – in fact they all help him on his journey.  His aunts – well, that’s another story and worth running away from!

Spiderman – Marvel superhero!  He has spideryness going on in his blood!

Honorary Mentions:

Incy wincy spider and Miss Moffat – okay, these are nursery rhymes and just go to show how we like to give our children the heebeejeebies about spiders!

Aarachnaphobla and Eight Legged Freaks – call me a maniac but I love both these films

You may have noticed I went for a theme of spiders – once I’d started it just seemed to flow so why not!  Stop on over to check out the other petrified travellers and see what they’ve come up with to terrify you this week.

Now is the winter of our content…
