Sunday Post

I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week.  I rather got out of the habit of doing so but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track.  So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s  Caffeinated Reviewer.  Without further ado:

Books read this week:

This week has been busy with not as much time for reading or blogging.  I have completed another SPFBO finalist so only have one book left and I’ve also started to post my reviews.  I’ve also started Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell which I’m enjoying so far.

Next Week’s Reads:

This week I’d like to finish Play of Shadows, which is my last March review book, I’m also hoping to read my final SPFBO finalist and perhaps fit in a backlist book.

Books read this week:

This week I feel like I’ve been on a go slow for some reason.  Not just in reading and blogging but everything.  An overall lack of oomph.  Anyway, I did manage to finally post an update about where I’m up to with SPFBO.  I completed and reviewed Oracle by Thomas Olde Heuvelt.  I also read another SPFBO finalist and picked up another – which I feel I will complete today, which will then leave me with two more finalists before my SPFBO reading is complete.  I have one more review book this month which I will start this forthcoming week.  Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell.

O2

Next Week’s Reads:

Hoping to read my remaining SPFBO finalists and also my final review book for March.  Mmm, I’d also like to fit in a backlist book.

Books read this week:

This week I’ve had less time for reading and blogging – life ‘things’ keep getting in the way –  in particular the freezer going on the blink involving lots of running around cleaning up and cooking things that I wouldn’t otherwise have been cooking plus overall very bad weather and storms and wind blowing things into places they shouldn’t be.  Still, I managed to  complete The Classified Dossier – Sherlock Holmes and Dorian Gray by Christian Klavier.  I then went off track slightly and picked up Murder Road by Simone St James which I loved and in fact have already reviewed. Finally I picked up Oracle by Thomas Olde Heuvelt.  I was hoping to complete this by the end of the day but I’ve been side tracked again so probably one to complete next week now.

Complete Oracle by Thomas Olde Heuvelt.  I then have one final review book for March, Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell.  After that I’m going to see if I can complete the rest of my SPFBO finalists.  I’m also hoping to provide an update next week followed by reviews – one to be posted every few days (once I’ve drawn up my schedule).

Books read this week:

I’ve had a good week.  Although, our young dog Noodle managed to find (or make) a break in our perimeter fence and break free for a morning.  Her cunning plan for a bit of fun was thwarted when she realised that she couldn’t get back in the same way she’d left so she eventually called on the neighbours who kept her entertained until we got home.  Naughty Noodles.  In reading I managed to complete two backlist books, the Secrets of Hartwood Hall by Katie Lumsden and Crucible of Chaos by Sebastien de Castell.  I’ve started the audio book of Gods of The Wyrdwood by RJ Barker – still early days but I’m being pulled into this strange world.  And, I completed The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden which I loved.  I’ve also started another review book which I think I’ll probably finish today with luck – The Classified Dossier – Sherlock Holmes and Dorian Gray by Christian Klavier.

Complete The Classified Dossier – Sherlock Holmes and Dorian Gray by Christian Klavier.  Then I’m hoping to read another of my review books, Oracle by Thomas Olde Heuvelt.  I won’t make further plans than that.

Books read this week:

So, fortunately I’m over my cold, although I still feel a bit tired – or perhaps that’s an excuse just to sit and read.  My reading has again gone well this week.  I picked up and completed my sampler of Empire of the Damned by Jay Kristoff which I will review shortly.  I also read one of my backlist books which was a gothic story about a governess hired to work in a remote mansion where very few staff are employed and the local village seem to dislike and distrust the tenants.  The Secrets of Hartwood Hall by by Katie Lumsden.  I completed the audio book of Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros and finally I picked up a very curious book called The Storm Beneath the World – more about that title very soon.   I realise this probably looks like a lot of books but to be fair I was already reading two of these before the new week began.

Next Week’s Reads:

I’m thinking next week I might try and complete another backlist book that I have already started, Crucible of Chaos by Sebastien de Castell and also make a start on one of my March review books, The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden.
