I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week. I rather got out of the habit of doing so but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track. So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s Caffeinated Reviewer. Without further ado:
Books read this week:
I’m a little bit behind (story of my life so it seems). We’ve been away for a week to the beautiful city of Madrid. We had a fantastic time there amongst all the hustle and bustle. It’s a very friendly city, great tapas, delicious wine, plenty to see and do. I highly recommend it. I have managed a few reads which is good but I’m behind with reviews (obviously I wasn’t writing these up on holiday – I’m such a slacker!) so now I have to give my head a wobble and schedule a few in this week to try and catch up. I’ve also not been blog hopping or responding to comments so I’ll be getting back on track with that also. In reading news I’ve managed to complete three of my review books. I went off schedule a little. I started with The Trials of Empire by Richard Swan which was an excellent conclusion to the series – lots of action and horror in this grand finale. I then picked up AG Slatter’s The Briar Book of the Dead which is just wonderful. I’m loving her work and so I went into the read with high expectations and I’m pleased to say these were easily met with this deliciously witchy tale. I then picked up T Kingfisher’s What Feasts at Night which was a very quick read. My next read will be another of my SPFBO finalists, I’m hoping to fit two in this month to keep me on track.

Books read this week:
This week I’ve been away for a few days and in fact I’m still away. So, I’ve had a few posts scheduled but not written many reviews or done much blog hopping or chatting with everyone. Next week, hopefully, normal service will be resumed. This week I managed to stay on track. I’ve read Only If You’re Lucky by Stacy Willingham and Everyone Who Can Forgive Me Is Dead by Jenny Hollander and enjoyed both of these titles – my only regret is reading one on the back of the other – because they’re both mysteries that flit back and forth between the ‘then’ and the ‘now’.

Books read this week:
What a crazy and hectic week this has been. There’s been lots going on and on top of that in the last few days we’ve all fallen prey to the dreaded lurgy. I think the Grinch has stolen Christmas for us – but, it matters not, we’ll just put a slight delay on things. Hope everyone else is keeping well? My listening to Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff (about 7 hours left) has not progressed this week – mainly because I’ve been ill. I did manage to complete my first SPFBO finalist and I’ve made a great start on Voyage of the Damned by Frances White – what a fantastic story this is so far, I’m absolutely loving it and can’t wait to pick it back up – 30% in so far. Seriously, loving it.

Books read this week:
Well, lots of developments this week. I’ve been really busy. On top of that my phone has been broken which I will confess demonstrates quite powerfully just how easy it is for these little gadgets to insinuate themselves so easily into our lives. It’s a flipping nightmare. And, in other news, just in case things were becoming too simple we decided (rather suddenly and abruptly) to trial another rescue dog. Put bluntly, our hearts overruled our heads and so here we now are! Just over a year and a half ago we adopted a dog called Bones, a Podengo Grande, an absolutely beautiful dog with a heart of gold. He is very much a part of our family and so when we came across a slightly smaller female version (almost identical to him in everything but looks as though she’s been put in a machine to shrink her down – ‘honey, I shrunk the dog’ – well, yes, e couldn’t resist. So here we are. Just three days in, trying to give her a calm environment and give her time to let her anxiety begin to lessen. I can’t deny it’s hard work, and also messes up the routine. But it is rewarding. Between one thing and another there has been little time for anything this week. But I have completed my beta read and also moved forward with my current SPFBO read, I’ve also written a couple of reviews – slowly but surely I’m catching up.
