Booking Ahead/Weekly Wrap Up

Sunday Post

I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week.  I rather got out of the habit of doing so but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track.  So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s  Caffeinated Reviewer.  Without further ado:

Books read this week:

We currently have family staying with us so things are a bit chaotic, in a very good way, but this also means if I seem to be missing in action, or not around the blogosphere much it’s for that reason.  I’m still reading and reviewing and actually making good progress this month but I’ll start catching up with comments and visits in another week.  This week I read and already reviewed The Gathering by CJ Tudor.  I really liked this, a vampire story where the vampires play second fiddle to the murder mystery and the chief investigator steals the show.  I completed (and reviewed) Gods of the Wyrdwood by RJ Barke. rI’ve also read The Fates by Rosie Garland.  This is a reimagining of Greek myth, the fall of the Gods and the life of Atalanta.  I really enjoyed this.  My audio book was the second in the Cyrus Haven series, When She Was Good by Michael Robotham I powered through this one picking it up to listen whenever possible.. And  I’ve now started The Library Thief by Kuchenga Shenje.

Next Week’s Reads:

Hopefully complete The Library Thief.  Then I’m hoping to pick up The Redemption of Morgan Bright by Chris Panatier – I’m so excited for this one..

Do you ever have that feeling that you’re taking two steps forward then one step back?  Last week was a little like that for me.  I’m trying to forge ahead with my review and SPFBO books then I had an unexpected accident (basically my dog charged into me in his excitement and hurt my arm) which then set me back again!  Oh well, nothing broken and now time to move on.  This week I read Sundial by Catriona Ward and my review for that will be posted soon.  I’ve also read about a quarter of Last Exit by Max Gladstone – very unusual this one, I’m liking it but it feels like I’m making very slow progress for some reason.

Books read this week:

Next Week’s Reads:

I’m hoping to finish Last Exit by Max Gladstone then start another of my SPFBO finalists and make a start on The City of Dusk by Tara Sim.

  1. Gallant by VE Schwab

Sundial by Catriona Ward

Sunday PostI’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week.  I rather got out of the habit of doing this last year but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track.  So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s  Caffeinated Reviewer.  Without further ado:

Last week

Firstly, my foot’s a lot better which is good. Of course the weather has been awful so I’ve not really been up to a great deal other than the norm.  In reading and blogging I managed to post three reviews so only one to roll over, plus the three books (possibly four) that I’ve finished this week.  Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marilier which I buddy read with Mayri over at the Bookforager, this was very good and hopefully my review will be up soon.  I also read Library of the Dead by TL Huchu, I enjoyed this but at the same time I do have some mixed feelings. I also finished The Iron Raven by Julie Kagawa and, again, mixed feelings with this one too. Finally, The Moonsteel Crown by Stephen Deas.  I’ve only just started this one so it will probably roll over to next week’s reads.

Next Week

Unfortunately, I didn’t make any progress with my audiobooks this month so I’m hoping to get back to We Lie With Death.  In other bookish progress. I”m approximately 40% into The Children by Bjorn Larssen – so will be picking up that one and from my review pile The Black Song by Anthony Ryan also my next SPFBO book, Darkness Forged. Again, I’m not expecting to finish all of those but they’re the ones I’m eyeballing right now.

Reviews Posted since last Sunday:

  1. Last One to the Party by Bethany Clift
  2. Ink and Sigil by Kevin Hearne
  3. The Survivors by Jane Harper

Forthcoming Reviews:

  1. The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins
  2. Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marilier
  3. Library of the Dead by TL Huchu
  4. The Iron Raven by Julie Kagawa

So another busy week for the blog whilst I try to catch up.

What’ve you been up to the past week?

Is it just me or are the weeks flying by at breakneck speed.  I cannot believe it’s the 9th February and I feel so busy at the moment that instead of doing a few things very well, I’m doing a lot of things very badly!  So, I’ve only read one book this week, but it was quite slow going for some reason.  I’m doing all sorts of projects but I’m stuck in that trap where you start one thing, then realise you have another couple of things and you keep going from one to the other.  Consequently everywhere is a bit of a pigsty, there are incomplete gardening projects, unfinished house projects and unread books, plus my blog hopping has been dire.  I can do better, lol.  At least I’m still trying to eat healthy and exercise a little more each day.  So, here’s my reading this week:

  1. The Sisters Grimm by Menna van Praag

TheSisters

What I’m reading next week:

  1. Crownbreaker by Sebastien deCastell
  2. The Wolf of Oren- Yaro by K. S. Villoso
  3. Starsight by Brandon Sanderson (audio)

Upcoming Reviews:

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Queenlayer by Sebastien DeCastell
  3. The Absinthe Earl by Sharon Lynn Fisher
  4. Deeplight by Frances Hardinge
  5. King of Assassins by RJ Barker
  6. The Sisters Grimm by Menna van Praag

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

Weekly Wrap Up : 9th June 2019

Again, I’ve missed a weekly wrap up and so I am combining two weeks in one post.  Actually I quite like doing a twofer so perhaps that’s what I’ll do in future – although I’m still torn because the weekly wrap up does keep me more focused and on track.  I’ll see – the jury’s still out.  Anyway, my reading has been very slow – in fact I had about four days of no reading whatsoever.  We’ve been travelling and also spending time with friends so reading has taken something of a backseat.  In fairness, slowing down my reading has meant I’m catching up on reviews – so it’s swings and roundabouts.  Hopefully my reading will be back to par next week.  So, what have I read since my last update:

My books:

  1. The Red Stained Wings by Elizabeth Bear
  2. The Fall by Tracy Townsend (RTF)

Next scheduled reads:

  1. Nocturna by Maya Motayne
  2. Across the Void by SK Vaughn
  3. Limited Wish by Mark Lawrence
  4. The Whisper Man by Alex North

Upcoming reviews

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Council by Snorri Kristjansson
  3. Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
  4. The Fall by Tracy Townsend

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
