Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book (this doesn’t have to be a book that you’ve read), compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below – if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. I’ve also listed events that take place during the year, that I’m aware of, so you can link up your covers – if you’re aware of any events that you think I should include then give me a shout. A cover with a pattern
I can’t wait to see what everyone came up with this week – I’m thinking that there has to be a few possibilities for this theme. I’m pleased this week to be able to return to another one of my more recent books. An unusual tale based in Australia and filled with unusual folklore : Flyaway by Kathleen Jennings. Not a lot of covers for this one but both are perfect for this week’s theme:

Both the covers are similar and I like both but I prefer the cleaner look of this one and the font appeals to be more than the all capitals approach on the dark cover.

I liked this week’s theme and so hopefully you all found this one much easier too. This week my book is The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman and as you may imagine there were plenty of covers for this one so I’ve gone for a small selection:

I thought I had lots of ideas for this week’s theme but then I spotted this one. I listened to this a few years ago on audio, it was a special edition and it was really good. Unfortunately I didn’t write a review but I thought I’d use this week’s theme to highlight the book:
Believe me when I say there were a lot of covers for this book – which isn’t really a surprise as it’s very popular. I like some of these but my favourite is:
I don’t know why but this cover just works for me – perhaps it’s familiarity.

Potions – hubble bubble
I saw a few covers that would have fitted this theme but I couldn’t resist going for The Witches by Roald Dahl and there are a whole bunch of covers – to be honest I only looked so far. Here they are – you might want to zoom in in order to see that pesky potion bottle but it is there on some of these.
Plenty of fun covers here. I really like the French cover for it’s slightly darker vibe but I think my favourite is:

This week I had a few ideas, seriously I wanted to go with a Harry Potter book but at the same time I wanted to go with something else so here we have it. A fun book that I read quite a while ago : Resistance is Futile by Jenny T. Colgan
This book was a lot of fun and I think the covers reflect that.
