Once again I am counting down to the New Year, as with the previous years I shall be highlighting at least one book per day to fit the prompt on that given day. The main aim for this countdown is to highlight some of my reads during the past year and to shine the spotlight on them once again (although some of the prompts relate to forthcoming reads).
Today is Day 21 of the countdown to 2026 and a list of prompts can be found here if you wish to join me in counting down to 2026 and casting a spotlight on some of your favourite books.
Today’s Prompt: Santa’s Snack – a book that was a ‘light read’ between heavier books:
The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst. This is a lovely romantasy set in the same world as The Spellshop. I can’t get enough of these stories at the moment. They’re lovely, easy to read and definitely nothing short of cosy. A great read to place between two more prickly stories (a rose between thorns!)

Today’s Prompt: Eggnog – a book that was out of your comfort zone:
The Rush by Beth Lewis. I loved this book. I had read the author before to be honest and really enjoyed her work but this novel felt a little out of my normal reading zone, as it is, I couldn’t resist because of her writing and this was brilliant. Sometimes you just have to step out of your comfort zone.

Today’s Prompt: Christmas Carols – a book with musicians, song or instruments:
My Ex ,The Antichrist by Craig DiLouie:
This book is so fitting for today’s prompt (look closely enough and you can see a vinyl record behind the title on the cover. This book is told in a sort of documentary style, with individual band members relating their own little bits and pieces as things unfold. It concludes with a battle of the bands competition where things become totally crazy.
