I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week. I rather got out of the habit of doing this but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track. So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s Caffeinated Reviewer. Without further ado:
This week has been a busy one although I’m not entirely sure why – the time seems to have flown by and I’ve barely had chance to break open my laptop or write up posts, but, I did manage to complete the two books that I wanted to so I’ll take that. I read my SPFBO finalist and now have three books remaining (one of which I’ve made a start on) and I also read Insomnia which is quite possibly my favourite Pinborough so far and very aptly named because I feel like I suffered some sleeplessness myself whilst reading! (Mainly due to ‘just one more chapter’ syndrome). I haven’t managed to post any reviews so the blog may be a little busy this week.
Books read this week:
1 x SPFBO finalist
Insomnia by Sarah Pinborough

- We Men of Ash and Shadow by HL Tinsley (SPFBO Finalist)

- City of Dusk by Tara Sim
- Insomnia by Sarah Pinborough

Well this week hasn’t gone wonderfully well although I have been catching up with blog hopping and comments which has been great, I love seeing all the posts I’ve missed and catching up although I still have some more backtracking to do. So, why hasn’t this week gone well? Last week I started City of Dusk and although I had made a good start it still took me all week and most of yesterday to complete it (hence this post being late because I was absolutely determined to start the week with a new book). Unfortunately City of Dusk didn’t really work it’s magic for me which is a shame as I loved the concept. My review will follow shortly. As a result I didn’t manage to start my next SPFBO finalist so that will be my next endeavour.
Books read this week:
The City of Dusk by Tara Sim.
I will be reading one of my SPFBO finalists and also hoping to pick up Insomnia by Sarah Pinborough.

- Last Exit by Max Gladstone

This week I’ve been trying to push on with my reading. I did finish Last Exit by Max Gladstone and by the time this post goes live I also expect to have completed another of my SPFBO finalists. Hopefully reviews up soon. I have had a rather full week and haven’t managed to catch up with things the way I’d have liked but I’ve made a start blog hopping and hope to get back on trace and uptodate with reviews this week.
Books read this week:
1 x SPFBO book

Next Week’s Reads:
I have another SPFBO finalist lined up and also I’ve made a start on The City of Dusk by Tara Sim.
- Sundial by Catriona Ward

Do you ever have that feeling that you’re taking two steps forward then one step back? Last week was a little like that for me. I’m trying to forge ahead with my review and SPFBO books then I had an unexpected accident (basically my dog charged into me in his excitement and hurt my arm) which then set me back again! Oh well, nothing broken and now time to move on. This week I read Sundial by Catriona Ward and my review for that will be posted soon. I’ve also read about a quarter of Last Exit by Max Gladstone – very unusual this one, I’m liking it but it feels like I’m making very slow progress for some reason.

Last week I mentioned that I was pressing on with my SPFBO finalists and those plans managed to stay on track. I completed the book I was reading and also managed to fit in another SPFBO book which means I’m now at the halfway point. In review books I read The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley which I really enjoyed and already reviewed earlier this week. I also read Gallant by VE Schwab and my review for that one shall be posted soon. I do have some catching up to do. I’ve not been responding to comments and I’ve not been keeping up with my buddy read or blog hopping – I thought I had to push on with my SPFBO and make some headway and also I can’t deny that recent ‘world events’ have definitely had a very negative impact. I won’t go into that on here though.

Next Week’s Reads:
I shall of course be starting another SPFBO book. I’ve started Sundial by Catriona Ward and I’m also hoping to pick up Last Exit by Max Gladstone.
- The Hemlock Cure by Joanne Burn
- The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
Outstanding reviews:
Gallant by VE Schwab
