I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week. I rather got out of the habit of doing this but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track. So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s Caffeinated Reviewer. Without further ado:
Books read this week:
I’ve had a lovely week. Good weather and good company. I’ve finished reading at least the first 30% of my third batch of SPFBO books and so I’m now ready to make some decisions about which books I intend to continue reading. Hopefully I will post a couple of updates soon, unfortunately, both these posts will involve cuts which is always unpleasant but it’s the nature of the competition and in happier news I’ve a number of books to carry forward that I’m very much enjoying, so, more news about those books soon too. This week I read and was absolutely bowled over by Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney. Short spoiler prior to review – brilliant. I seriously think this is one of my favourite books read so far this year.

Next Week’s Reads:
Next week I need to continue with my catch up of review books. My reading has definitely slowed down at the moment which is more to do with the time of year and increased socialising than the lack of desire to read or the quality of the books. So, this week I’d really like to pick up The Retreat by Sarah Pearse and Priest of Crowns by Peter McLean.

Books read this week:
This is my first weekly wrap up for a few weeks. I’ve had a two week break while family and friends have been visiting/holidaying and this past week been catching up with lots of chores. I now need to catch back up with my reading and blog hopping to see what lovely posts I’ve missed. I did manage to start my second batch of SPFBO books. I’ve read a review book that I’ll be posting about soon and over the past few days I read Ronald Malfi’s Black Mouth which I loved. Somehow I seem to have given myself a stiff neck which has been really painful – don’t know what or how I’ve done this but I hope it goes soon as it’s really unpleasant! Anyway, enough of this. Onto the past week and the week ahead:

Next Week’s Reads:
Next week I’m hoping to start catching up with the review books I unfortunately got behind with in July and also make a start on some August books. I’ll also be continuing with my SPFBO books. Here are a few of my choices:
Obviously, I’m not suggesting that I’ll read six books! This is just a selection of what I’m looking forward to. Have you read any of these?

I’ve been absent a couple of weeks. Still been reading but been very busy personally and not had much time to blog. I did manage to read Daughter of Redwinter by Ed McDonald which I also reviewed. I’ve finished reading the first batch of SPFBO books (I’ve read at least 30% of all the books from my first batch and tomorrow I’ll be posting my second batch of books, after which I will begin making cuts. Not the favourite part of the competition but it is what it is. I’ve also completed Before They are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie which was my latest buddy read with the lovely Bookforager. I’m also 40% into a review book that I’ll be posting about soon.
Next Week’s Reads:
Next week I’m hoping to read a couple of review books, Upgrade by Blake Crouch and Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey. I’ll also be making a start on my next five SPFBO books.
- Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak
- The Bay by Allie Reynolds
- The Path of Thorns by AG Slatter
- Daughter of Redwinter by Ed McDonald

Books read this week:
This week I read two of my intended books and started another which I’m well underway with. I’m still catching up on reviews and short of posting two a day it’s going to take me a little while but hopefully I should have another three reviews out next week. I completed Stringers by Chris Panatier and The Echo Man by Sam Holland. I also made a start on The Grief of Stones by Katherine Addison.
Next Week’s Reads:
I need to finish The Grief of Stones and than I’ll be picking up The Seawomen by Chloe Timms. After that, if I get a chance I have a few books to choose from but think I’d like to pick up Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak.
- Sea of Tranquility by Emily St John Mandel
- The Last Stand of Mary Good Crow by Rachel Aaron
- Black Tide by KC Jones
Outstanding Reviews
- Elektra by Jennifer Saint
- Land of the Dead by Steven Hopstaken and Melissa Prusi

This week has been a lovely week and also a little bit lazy so I’ve managed to pack in quite a few books and visit a few blogs. I’m making good progress and have started to backtrack with my own comments.
Books read this week:
I completed my blog tour book which will be posted on Tuesday. This is the latest Rachel Aaron book : The Last Stand of Mary Good Crow which I had a very good time with. Also, as planned, I completed the three books that I outlined last week plus an extra one: The third in the Stoker-Wilde series : Land of the Dead. I read and loved Sea of Tranquility by Emily St John Mandell. I picked up Elektra by Jennifer Saint which transported me back to a time of Trojan wars and Greek myth and finally I had an absolute blast with KC Jones Black Tide which is a dark and tentacled day at the beach. So, I have lots of reviews to post.
Next Week’s Reads:
Well, I have made good progress on the review books I’d got behind with. I do still have some catching up but I feel a bit more relaxed now I’ve made some inroads. This week I’m going to read some of my forthcoming review books for June and maybe still try and sneak in one of my books from the catch-up list.
