Books read this week:

It’s been a busy week.  The time is flying.  It’s already been three and a half weeks since my hip replacement, I’m exercising and already getting about without any walking aids – just taking it easy and being careful.  Little by little. I’ve also had a really good reading week and managed to catch up with comments and blog hopping, not quite fully caught up yet, and I do have a lot of reviews to post, but I’m getting there.  This week I’ve completed the two books I’d already started – and really enjoyed both – The Dead Husband Cookbook by Danielle Valentine (that ending!) and Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham (scary and twisted).  I also picked up and really enjoyed the second instalment in the Echo Archives series by Melissa Caruso – The Last Soul Among Wolves.  I did also pick up Aphrodite by Phoenicia Rogerson but this one isn’t working for me at the moment so I’ve put it aside for now.

Next Week’s Reads:

I have two more August review books left to read – Damned by Genevieve Cogman and This Vicious Hunger by Francesca May so these will be my next reads.  I’ve also started a new audio book called This Monster of Mine by Shalini Abeysekara.

Books read this week:

It’s been quiet on the blog and I’ve missed one of my weekly wrap ups so today will be a double.  Basically, I’ve had hip replacement surgery and so have been a little out of action. I think everything is going well though and I’ve certainly been doing lots of reading so let’s take a look at the books I’ve picked up recently.

I completed and really enjoyed The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig – the audio book was very good.  I also finished and, again, really enjoyed It Was Her House First by Cherie Priest.  I read My Ex, the AntiChrist by Craig DiLouie which was another very good read that I enjoyed the style of storytelling and I completed Another Fine Mess by Lindy Ryan.  I picked up and read about 50% of The Library at Hellebore by Cassandra Khaw – this one didn’t work for me and I’ve decided it’s a DNF.  I really wanted to complete it but seriously I can’t.  It’s just not my style.  Finally I’ve managed to complete Fateless by Julie Kagawa – action packed and enjoyable if a little generic.  This means I’ve completed my July reads and can move onto August review titles.  Woot. (Although I need to press on with reviews now to catch up).

Next Week’s Reads:

I think I’ll pick up The Bone Raiders by Jackson Ford and I also have the audio version of The Dead Husband Cookbook by Danielle Valentine.

Books read this week:

I’ve had a very busy week this past week, and the weather has been very warm!  So, I haven’t got on with much reading unfortunately.  I’m still reading A Far Better Thing by HG Parry – the writing is so good.  I’ll probably finish it this evening.

Next Week’s Reads:

Hoping to read Paved With Good Intentions by Peter McLean in, and time allowing I’ll be listening to some more of Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry.

Books read this week:

This week my reading and blogging has been slow – but this is because we have a visitor and will also have another visitor next week so time seems to simply fly.  I’m still listening to Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry – I’m going to go against popular opinion with this one and say I’ve not fully bought into this one yet.  There’s still time though so who knows.  I finished Swordheart by T Kingfisher and absolutely loved it, so I now have two series that I’m desperate to continue with – both by Kingfisher.  I am now reading A Far Better Thing by HG Parry – and I’m loving it.  I’ve literally read over 30% in one sitting so I think I’ll make good progress with this one.

Next Week’s Reads:

Hoping to complete A Far Better Thing by HG Parry, I’m also confident that I can fit Paved With Good Intentions by Peter McLean in, and time allowing I’ll be listening to some more of Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry.

Books read this week:

This week my reading has been great. I mean, to be clear, I’ve not read massive amounts but I’m enjoying the books I’m reading.  I have been busy for other reasons and so that has slowed me down – but it’s an improvement that I’m loving the books. So, I’m still listening to Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry.  I like this , I do have the occasional eye role – but, it is entertaining.  To be fair, I haven’t had as much time for listening this week so I’ve not made great headway – probably still about 9 hours of listening remaining.  I finished The Bodies by Sam Lloyd which I enjoyed, although it was one of those books that was chaotic, everything kept escalating to the point I almost wanted the author to give me a break.  I’m also reading Swordheart by T Kingfisher – which I’m frankly adoring.  Literally, the main problem for me at the moment is lack of time.

Next Week’s Reads:

Aiming to complete Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry and Swordheart by T Kingfisher.  Then I might be looking at either – A Far Better thing by H G Parry or Paved With Good Intentions by Peter McLean – two books that I am really looking forward to so that’ll be a difficult choice.  Maybe I’ll just start both.
