I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week. I rather got out of the habit of doing this but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track. So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s Caffeinated Reviewer. Without further ado:
This week my reading has not been too good. Basically, we have family visiting which is just wonderful but does impact on reading and blogging. I managed to finish Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt – this is an interesting story that gets off to a scary start. I’d say it’s not a fast read and I think it was a little chunkier than I expected but it’s definitely got some very creepy elements.
Books read this week:

Next Week’s Reads:
I’m going to pick up This Charming Man by CK McDonnell which is the second book in the Stranger Times series. I had a fantastic time reading the first book and can’t wait to pick this one up. I’m going to leave it at just the one and see what else happens.

- The Haunting of Las Lagrimas by WM Cleese

Outstanding reviews:
Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt

This week has been busy but I’m happy to say that I’ve read two books and also managed to start my SPFBO book and also the first few chapters of my buddy read – which is the second book in the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie – Before They are Hanged. Mayri from the Bookforager and I had a fantastic time reading The Blade Itself and so I was very excited to start this one and so far it doesn’t disappoint. I shall be reading more again tonight so that we can start our discussions. I completed The Great Witch of Brittany by Louisa Morgan which I loved and so will definitely be back tracking to read some of her other books. I already have a copy of The Witch’s Kind so might dive straight in with that one – any thoughts? I also went off plan a little and read The Haunting of Las Lagrimas by WM Cleese. This is a gothic style story with a remote haunted house, a cruel history and a cursed family.

So, this week my reading has been a little slower but I’ve read one book and started on the second. I would like this week to pick up another of my SPFBO books. I managed to complete A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross. I did enjoy this but it certainly isn’t a fast read and it didn’t quite knock my socks off the way I’d hoped. Well, highs and lows but the main story is good if a little slow to move forward. My review will be up tomorrow. I’ve started The Great witch of Brittany by Louisa Morgan and although its early days I’m fairly confident in saying I like this one very much already.

Next Week’s Reads:
I’m definitely going to complete The Great Witch of Brittany by Louisa Morgan and will then make a start on Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt.

This week I feel I’ve been getting back into the swing of things. I feel like my reading is also getting back on track. Basically, I lost my reading mojo a little over late December/early January so I’ve put down the books I was reading and tried some different styles to freshen things up a little – a factory reset if you will and I will return to those books soon. So, my reading has been picking up, I completed and reviewed Rachel Hawkin’s Restless Girls. I liked it but I think the ending took me by surprise a little. I also read and loved A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham – my review will be up tomorrow – and I started A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross. This is maybe slightly slower than I anticipated, I’m almost a third in but its an easy read and I’m keen to see what’s going on in the enchanted Isle of Cadence.

I’m hoping to complete A River Enchanted by Rachel Ross and make a start on Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt. I also can’t deny that The Great Witch of Brittany by Louisa Morgan is not so much calling me as positively shouting my name right about now – so who knows, I might swap things around.

This week I’ve been trying to catch up with my blogging. December was a bit crazy, Christmas was chaotic and frankly I’m glad to have started a new year. My reading and blogging has been quite slow for the past few weeks as a result of everything going on. So, this last week I read The Maid by Nita Prose which was really good and I started Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins. I will be starting a new SPFBO book very soon and also hoping to make some headway on my February review books.
Books read this week:

Next Week’s Reads:
Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins, possibly A River Enchanted by Rachel Ross and Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt.

The Maid by Nita Prose
