Sunday Post

Today I’m posting my Weekly Wrap Up and II’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s  Caffeinated Reviewer.  Without further ado:

Books read this week:

I’m still catching up but after this week, my reading has slowed down a little but I’m on track with my August review books.  This week I completed and reviewed Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan which I really enjoyed.   I also read a book that I was really looking forward to and unexpectedly was approved for a copy, The Voyage Home by Pat Barker.  I think this concludes the series and it was a good ending.  I’ve also made a good start on The Mercy of Gods by James SA Corey.  I’m about 50% into this one, it is a little bit slow in parts and it’s more hard sci fi than I was hoping for but I’m making good progress. In SPFBO news I’ve posted my first cuts which was a really difficult post to pull together and actually gave me a headache.  I really dislike this part of judging but it has to be done and I have more cuts which I’ll be posting next Saturday.

Next Week’s Reads:

  1. Tales of a Monstrous Heart by Jennifer Delaney
  2. Death at the Sign of the Rook by Kate  Atkinson
  3. Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan

Sunday Post

Books read this week:

Slowly but surely I’m catching up with my blogging and reviewing.  This past week I posted five reviews and I might have another intense week going forward which should then put me back on track.  In terms of reading I finished The Seventh Veil of Salome by Silvia Moreno Garcia.  It’s not my favourite book by the author but that’s more an issue of personal taste because the writing is really good (I wasn’t absolutely in love with the storyline but I think others will be).   I read Death at the Sign of the Rook by Kate  Atkinson, this is really good for lovers of cosy mystery, I had a good time with it, it perhaps wasn’t quite what I was expecting in some respects but it has good characters and a great sense of humour.  I also started Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan – which I’m enjoying, about 40% into the story so far.  Unfortunately I’ve had to set aside one of my review books as it wasn’t quite working for me.  The Girl With No Reflection by Keshe Chow.  This gets off to a really good start, with good world building and some very creepy early scenes but then we run into an instalove situation that just didnt work for me but to be fair that’s one of my pet gripes and really I’m not the target audience so don’t be put off by my grumps.  In SPFBO news I’ve completed my final batch of five books (reading the first 25%).  I shall be posting soon about the books that will be cut and those that I’m going to read fully with a view to choosing SFs.

Next Week’s Reads:

  1. The Drowning House by Cherie Priest
  2. A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience by Stephanie Burgis
  3. The Wilds by Sarah Pearse
  4. A Poisoner’s Tale by Cathryn Kemp
  5. The Seventh Veil of Salome by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Sunday Post

Today I’m posting my Weekly Wrap Up and II’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s  Caffeinated Reviewer.  Without further ado:

Books read this week:

This week has been okay in terms of reading.  I need to catch up with reviews still and blog hopping but I’m slowly but surely getting there.  I’ve not finished The Seventh Veil of Salome by Silvia Moreno Garcia, I’m still about a third of the way through that one as I put it down for a little while.  Hopefully I’ll get back to it this forthcoming week.  I’ve completed A Poisoner’s Tale by Cathryn Kemp which is a historical novel based on a real person.  I read and already reviewed Heads Will Roll by Josh Winning and I read Tales of a Monstrous Heart by Jennifer Delaney.  I really do need to make some headway with reviews and with that in mind I think next week will be devoted to getting ahead so maybe I won’t post Cant Wait Wednesday or Friday Face Off.  In SPFBO news I’ve made a start on my final batch of five.

Next Week’s Reads:

  1. Love Letters To A Serial Killer by Tasha Coryell
  2. A Sorceress Comes to Call by T Kingfisher
  3. Heads Will Roll by Josh Winning

Books read this week:

I’m still playing catch up and so been posting quite a bit this week, more than I usually do anyway.  I don’t really like double posting but it has helped me to start getting ahead with reviews.   This week I completed The Wilds by Sarah Pearse.  I also read and loved A Sorceress Comes to Call by T Kingfisher. And I also completed a novella, A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience by Stephanie Burgis, which was very entertaining. I’m currently reading The Seventh Veil of Salome by Silvia Moreno Garcia, I’m about a third of the way through that one. I’ve also nearly finished A Poisoner’s Tale by Cathryn Kemp.

Next Week’s Reads:

  1. A Little Trickerie by Rosanna Pike
  2. Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan
  3. The Trouble With Mrs Montgomery Hurst by Katie Lumsden
  4. Middle of the Night by Riley Sager

Books read this week:

I’m slowly catching back up. Doing some blog hopping and writing a couple of reviews. I’ve done a lot of reading this week, mainly because I reached the conclusion that the only way my leg is going to get better is if I stop jumping up and down doing things. So, much sitting and reading. The house is an utter pigsty. This week I completed The Trouble with Mrs Montgomery Hurst by Katie Lumsden which I really enjoyed. If you want an Austenish type story in your life then give it a try. I did pick up The Undermining of Twyla and Frank but for now I’ve set that to one side. Maybe I’ll give it another go in a few weeks. I’m currently reading The Wilds by Sarah Pearse but it’s early days. I’ve also started A Poisoner’s Tale by Cathryn Kemp and so far so good. I completed The Drowning House by Cherie Priest. I enjoyed this but it’s not my favourite by the author. I read The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst which is a lovely story that I couldn’t resist falling for. Finally I read Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan which was an odd little number that I had a good time blasting through.

Next Week’s Reads:

  1. The Moonlight Market by Joanne Harris
  2. The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
