#Wyrdandwonder – It’s a wrap
Another Wyrd and Wonder event comes to an end, all too quickly! I’d like to thank the hosts this year imyril, Lisa and Jorie. I’ve loved taking part and I know how time consuming all the organisation can be so thank you again :D. I perhaps didn’t get round to everything that I’d planned but I still had a great time and here’s what I managed to include:
Five Friday Face Offs with the following themes:
- A Cover that is blue
- A cover featuring a festival/party/celebration
- A cover featuring a fantasy beast
- A cover that features ‘magical things’
- A favourite fantasy cover
Can’t Wait Wednesday in which I highlight books that I’m excited about that aren’t yet released.:
- The Bone Ships (The Tide Child #1) by R.J. Barker
- The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
- Stormsong (The Kingston Cycle #2) by C.L. Polk
- Flamebringer (Heartstone #3) by Elle Katharine White
- The House of Sacrifice (Empires of Dust #3) by Anna Smith Spark
Throwback Thursday where I highlight books from the past – maybe the next in series is due out for example and this is a good way to highlight the series for other readers:
- The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire
- The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
- The Winnowing Flame Trilogy by Jen Williams
- The Spellslinger series by Sebastien de Castell
Books read and reviewed:
- Westside by WM Akers
- A Brightness Long Ago by Guy Gavriel Kay
- Dark Shores by Danielle L Jensen
I did read a further four books that fit the theme but unfortunately haven’t posted the reviews yet so I’m not including them here.
Another year comes to an end but hopefully there’ll be another wonderful celebration of all things fantasy next year and with a bit of a forward planning I might keep on track.
Oh, we’ll be back, don’t worry. 😀 And there will be another Spooktastic Reads mini event in October!
I loved it, wish I’d been more organised I suppose but there’s always next year and Spooktastic sounds great – I will await details.
Lynn 😀
It was fun, I wanted to read more fantasy books but for some reason I had a bunch of science fiction review books that I had to get through. Next year I’m joining again for sure!
What can you do – your review books take priority after all – as my sad TBR will affirm.
Lynn 😀
Sad I didn’t get to do W&W this year, but next yeah I will for sure! I’ll be sure to plan ahead this time around 😛
Even with my planning I was quite unorganised – but, there’s still next year.
Lynn 😀
Thank you for journeying with us again – it’s been so much fun (and so much busier!) this year. I can only imagine what next year will bring 🙂
Well quite, next year is probably going to be like an explosion!
Lynn 😀
[…] what an awesome May this has been. My co-host Lisa had a few words to say at Dear Geek Place. Lynn wrapped up at Lynn’s Books. Susy gave a shout out to some favourite moments at Susy’s Cozy World […]
This was a really fun event, looks like you had a great time with it too!
I did – although it’s a shame I didn’t post two review of the books I’d read. Oh well.
Lynn 😀
