Early Days
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic. Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here. This week’s topic is:
(First Ten) Books I Reviewed
Here are ten very early days reviews – I seemed to have quite a mixed selection of books here:
- Girl on the Landing by Paul Torday
- Fade Out, Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine
- His Last Duchess by Gabrielle Kim
- Entangled by Kat Clarke
- Desert Spear by Peter V Brett
- Matched by Ally Condie
- Pi**ed Off Parents Club by Mink Elliott
- Room by Emma Donoghue
- Sister by Rosamund Lupton
- Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Wow – what a fabulous list, Lynn! And you’re right – there’s a wide range here. I, too, loved Room, Sister and Desert Spear. Gabrielle Kimm came to talk to West Sussex Writers about how she researched her character for His Last Duchess… Thank you for sharing this list:)
I enjoyed this week’s theme – it was really interesting to delve back into older reviews and see how my reading tastes have changed.
Lynn 😀
That is quite a variety. The only one I’ve read here is Sister and I picked it up at the library once on a whim but ended up really enjoying it.
Yeah, I enjoyed it too – it’s strange how much my taste in books as changed.
Lynn 😀
Your list is quite different from what you review these days, I think it’s interesting how our focus and tastes change over time😊
It’s exactly what I was thinking when I drew up this list.
Lynn 😀
Oh, this is so much fun, I enjoy taking a look back at everyone’s beginnings. 🙂
it’s really interesting to see how tastes evolve.
Lynn 😀
Looking at your list reminds me of how I used to read/review a wider range of genres too. I guess as the years went on, I started specializing 🙂
Yeah, I think I started to delve more deeply into SFF – but I still look for my old favourites.
Lynn 😀
This week was such a fascinating and fun topic – and yours is so far from your current reading diet! Although I don’t miss reading more broadly per se; I admired Room rather than enjoying it, which was a bit of a theme for my more mainstream reads as I recall.
Yes, I recall having a lot of hit and misses and although I thought Room was okay I didn’t enjoy it as much as most people – it felt a bit like a missed opportunity in some respects. I did have quite a varied book diet back then – it was interesting to go back and see how my reading has changed.
