Every Tuesday over at the The Broke and Bookish we all get to look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) examples to demonstrate that particular topic. This week’s topic is:

All About the Romance
Well, I’m not really ‘all about the romance’ but as today is Valentine’s Day, why not!
- Rhett and Scarlett – obvious but had to be included. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. It’s not SFF Jim – but frankly, I don’t give a damn.
- Alexander and Tatiana. Had to be on here – The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons – boy oh boy is this one hot romance. I’m not kidding. I don’t, as I said above, usually read romance but this book…omg.
- Jamie and Claire – Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I expect these two will be on a few lists this week!
- Princess Buttercup and Westley. The Princess Bride by William Goldman. Sweet and funny romance – inconceivable?
- Buffy and Spike – Oh Yes! I haven’t read the books but I have seen the series and Spike wins.
- Ron and Hermione – maybe not a sizzling couple because that would be a bit wrong and apparently Ron has the emotional range of a teaspoon – but here it is nonetheless! J K Rowling’s Harry Potter.
- Han Solo and Leia – yes, I have never read any of the Star Wars books but I’ve seen the films and so this counts!
- Toby and Tybalt – really, couldn’t leave these off! The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire. Plus King of the Cats – Grrr!
- Tristan and Yvaine from Neil Gaiman’s Stardust – don’t you just love Neil Gaiman’s books!
- ??? – your choice please…

I’m going to add one from a book I’ve just completed – Miranda and Caliban from the book by Jacqueline Carey. Beautiful and compelling… Thank you for this, Lynn:)
I’m looking forward to starting that one – I feel bad because my reading has gone off the wall and I should have read it already but this month I’ve literally read two books!
Lynn 😀
Sometimes Life happens, doesn’t it and all those plans just slip, don’t they? You still are writing about books and producing an entertaining, readable blog that I always look forward to visiting:).
That is hard because so many of the books I have read the romances fall short (I mean, Princess Bride is the best but really its romance isn’t exactly built for the reader).
I don’t remember the book well but a few years back I read Moth and Spark and seem to recall believing the romance aspects working well.
Okay – I need to check out this Moth and Spark – thanks 😀
I heartily approve of Buffy and Spike! I always loved Spike more than Angel, but I know I was in the minority:-)
Nope – well, maybe, but if so, I’m in the minority with you. Spike every time.
Lynn 😀
I haven’t read the Outlander books, but based on the show, that’s a great pick. And Ron and Hermione, that one made me laugh (not in a bad way, but because like you said, Ron has the emotional range of a teaspoon)
I read quite a few of the Outlander books – the first was my favourite but the others are good. The series is also quite good.
Lynn 😀
Willow and Oz!
😀
Of course Toby and Tybalt! I totally approve 🙂
Yay 😀
Great choices – I haven’t read any of these (other than Stardust) but I have loved the films and TV shows 😀
Oh and I’ve read the Harry Potter books of course!
of course 😀
Cool 😀
Phedre and Joscelin, Just had to throw it out there 🙂
And lol at Ron with the emotional range of a teaspoon. I would say even less than that, I just do not like that kid 😛
I don’t know how I didn’t remember to put them on here – you know, sometimes you have your initial thoughts and then when you do your post your mind forgets half of your good intentions!
Lynn :
Toby and Tybalt and Princess Buttercup and Westley are such amazing choices! My top pick is the couple from Daughter of the Forest…but I don’t want to name names because I can’t recall if you’ve read that one yet! 😀
I need to step up my reading of the Marillier books I have. Trying to cut back on review books so that I can have a mix each month.
Lynn 😀
