Top Ten Tuesday plus Summer of Horror: Book Titles that Include the Word – House

TTT

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic.  Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by  The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here.  This week’s prompt is:

Book Titles That Include the Word – House

I wanted to use the prompt to highlight a few darker reads and House definitely seems to fit that challenge. Here are my 10:

Have you read any of these? What did you think?

With links: The Haunting of Hill House, House of Splinters, It was Her House First, The House That Horror Built, A House with Good Bones, Incidents Around the House, The September House, The Last House on Needless Street, How to Sell a Haunted House and Starling House

I love this list, Lynn! And to be honest I thought about using “house” in my post too. And bonus, I’ve read all of these😁

Haha, that’s brilliant, we do share a lot of books in common.

      Lynn 😀

I loved Starling House, House Of Whispers and Haunting Of Hill House. I thought Needless Street was masterfully crafted but I did struggle with the POV of the religious cat 🙈 I believe I have all the rest on my TBR and will at least be getting to the Kingfisher title this summer. I’d love to get to September House too ideally. House is such a good word choice for a horror list.

Yes, I was scrolling through my covers and realised that House could work well for this. I hope you manage to get to the rest on the list. And, yes, Needless street is masterful – and a bit disturbing and difficult to read.

Oh wow that’s funny, I also combined this week’s TTT with Summer of Horror and briefly considered doing ‘House’ too but I really don’t have enough haunted house books on my tbr for that lol! The Haunting of Hill House, House of Splinters are both ones I really want to read too! And Maaayybe the one with Good Bones but I’m not sure, I need to try other Kingfisher horrors first, I think. Great list! Here’s my TTT.

I hope you get a chance to pick some of these up – The Haunting of Hill House is very good.

I did read another book by the author that I really enjoyed so I have high hopes! Thanks, Lynn :D!

Such a perfect word choice for a horror theme! Love the selection of ‘House’ books you put together. Thanks for sharing your TTT this week!

Good word choice! I loved The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, even though I am a big scaredy cat! 😅

    My TTT post! 😊

Houses in horror, especially if it’s the focus of the story, are always the source of so much evil!

Yep, you got to love a good haunted house – or just plain old evil house.

      Lynn 😀
