Bookish Highlights for 2025

For the past month I’ve been highlighting a book a day during the Countdown to 2026, just to shine a little more light on some of the books I read this past year.

During 2025 I didn’t read as many books as I would usually, mainly due to a couple of periods where I had various issues that stopped me picking up, or even wanting to pick up books.  That being said I read 83 books last year and I will say that I picked up some fantastic books.  Below is a quick spotlight on various books broken into different categories.

Your horror section looks almost identical to mine! (Posting next week). I am doing the same thing, highlighting my favorites for each genre and then choosing a top five. Congrats on a great year😁

Thanks. Less books than normal but this year has had its ups and downs for sure. Hoping we all have a book filled and lovely 2026.

I love how you set this out although im horrified not to have picked up any of your fantasy choices yet 🙈 two are sitting on my shelves waiting for me though. Ive actually read the most – four – from your historical section which surprises me as I thought my historical reads were down on usual 😅 it looks like you’ve discovered a lot of new authors too. Any particular favourites?

I certainly did have a lot of new authors last year – and some great reads.
