Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic. Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here. This week’s topic :
Favorite Book Quotes
I’ve gone a little off topic this week, well, I’m using movie quotes instead of book quotes – although some of these may well have been book quotes first. Also, just to be a big tease I’m not putting the films these quotes are taken from – see how many you’re familiar with (and share the number – not the titles – in the comments):1.“Oh, it’s quite simple. If you are a friend, you speak the password, and the doors will open.”
2. “Inconceivable”
3. “God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys god. Man creates dinosaurs.” / “Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth.”
4. “No one would have believed, in the middle of the 20th century, that human affairs were being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man’s.”
5. “Robert Neville looked out over the new people of the earth. He knew he did not belong to them; he knew that, like the vampires, he was anathema and black terror to be destroyed. And, abruptly, the concept came, amusing to him even in his pain. … Full circle. A new terror born in death, a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever. I am legend.”
6. “They say once you grow crops somewhere, you have officially ‘colonised’ it. So technically, I colonised Mars. In your face, Neil Armstrong!”
7. “I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!
8. “the children of the night. What sweet music they make.”
9. “I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcyle”
10 Do you have a favourite quote that you fall into automatically??
Oh I love the third one!
Yeah, that’s one of my favourites.
Lynn 😀
Okay, I think I know 3, 4, 6, 9 (watched this quite recently having never seen it before).
I like this twist on the topic this week 🙂
Thanks – I had fun with this one.
Lynn 😀
I’m pretty sure I know all of these, although I’m not too sure about 1 and 4😁
I bet you do know both of those but seeing them out of context isn’t helpful.
Lynn 😀
I’m completely sure about 1,5,6 and 9 – and knowing you, I’m hardly surprised that 1 was in the first place… 😀 😀
Exactly – and I knew that you wouldn’t struggle with that one!
Lynn 😀
Hi Lynn! I know 6 for sure, think I know 7 as well and the rest are mystery. But I LOVED the 3rd one!
Clever twist on the prompt! Had fun reading it!
Here’s my 10 Favorite quotes from books
Yeah, I love that third quote tpp 😀
These are all great and I only recognized one or two of them.
I love movie quotes – quite ridiculously so really.
Lynn 😀
🙂
I think I got 1, 2, 3, and 7.
Excellent 😀
The Jurassic Park one is one of my all time favorites 😀
Yeah, me too – and the one ‘look, we can discuss sexism in survival situations when I get back’.
Lynn 😀
The only ones I don’t know are 8 and 9. Great selection! 😀
Thanks 😀
Brilliant quotes!! I love the fourth one, very moving haha. I tried this TTT, but ended up doing what you did actually and turning it into a game guessing which book the quotes were from. See how you get on!! 🙂 https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2020/09/29/top-ten-tuesday-guess-the-books-for-my-favourite-quotes/
I liked the guessing game – it was fun.
Lynn 😀
Well, I got about half off these right off so yay! As for quotes, there are some movies I’ve seen so many times I could quote them start to finish as they play (Interview With the Vampire is one haha).
Oh Yes, Interview with the Vampire is a good one.
Lynn 😀
Great quotes. I don’t know 4 and 7. My brother has a Ph.D. so I get to use “You’re the doc, Doc” sometimes.
Haha, very good.
Lynn 😀
I got 1,3,4,5,6,7 and 9 – my favourite has to be 6, I love that film!
And I love the book 😀
My favorite would be number #7. Gresat post.
Thank you 😀
