SPFBO6 : Cover Competition

It’s difficult to believe but the next SPFBO competition is about to start (more details and links can be found here) and in traditional style we begin with a cover competition.  So, posted below are the 30 books that I’ve been assigned (which I’m excited to tuck into – in fact who am I kidding I have actually started already).  I will be posting an introductory piece but thought I better make my selection for the competition.  Below are my covers and my final 3 that will be submitted for the cover contest (follow this link to see all the other contestants):

Which are your favourite 3?

  1. Carl V. Anderson

I really like Emma and the Minotaur, Chains Carried on Wings, and Burn.

    • @lynnsbooks

Emma and the Minotaur is almost deceptively simple – I really considered it for the competition and it was so difficult to make a final decision.
      Lynn 😀

  2. Tammy

This is my favorite part of the competition, because I’m all about the covers! I love the covers you picked, but I also love Heart Scale, Burn and Chains of Blood. Good luck to everyone!

    • @lynnsbooks

Those are three other covers that I really liked. Heartscale is so full of detail and I love that it’s a wraparound – I think I’ll have to do another post about some of the other covers just to draw some more attention to them.
      Lynn 😀

Really impressed with a lot of these covers, I think my favorite is Chains Carried on Wings though!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah, it’s a good cover – to be honest I was quite impressed with a number of these and went back and forward a bit with my choice but then decided to stick with first impressions.
      Lynn 😀

  4. Barb @ Booker T's Farm

I love these covers and you’ve definitely picked some of my faves. I also like the one for Tuyo but probably because I’m drawn to snow in book settings.

    • @lynnsbooks

Coincidentally Tuyo is the first book I’ve started to read and I’m enjoying it very much so far.
      Lynn 😀

  5. erinslibrary

I love The Flight of the Darkstar Dragon cover

  6. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

Wow, I didn’t even know SPFBO 6 was already underway! My eye was immediately drawn to the cover of War Bringer, probably because it looks suitably “epic fantasyish” ::)

    • @lynnsbooks

Yes it does now you mention it. Something about thestance?
      Lynn 😀

  7. bkfrgr

Have to agree with Tammy – I’m all about the covers too!
Like you I love Calico Thunder Rides Again (for its cover AND its title!), but my other picks would be The Child of Silence and Emma and the Minotaur – I love me some tress and some mountains. 😀
Can’t believe SPFBO has come round again …

    • @lynnsbooks

I just absolutely love finding out which covers everyone likes. We’re all so different.
      Lynn 😀

  8. maddalena@spaceandsorcery

I see that dragons are featuring prominently here, which is very, very promising… 😉
The cover that stands out for me, however, is dragon-less and it’s the one for “Burn”: for some reason I find it very powerful.

  9. @lynnsbooks

Yes, that definitely draws my eye and was another strong contender.
    Lynn 😀

  10. Zezee

Oh cool!! My three are The Flight of the Darkstar Dragon, The Child of Silence, Emma and the Minotaur.
Heartscale is a close one because of the dragons on it.
