Top Ten Tuesday : New to me authors from 2019

ttt

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic.  Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by  The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here.  This week’s topic is:

Bookish Discoveries I Made In 2019

This week my list is all about ‘new to me’ authors.  I read quite a lot of new authors in 2019 and so it was difficult to chop this list down to 10 but here are the books that really stood out at a glance:

  1. The Gutter Prayer by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan
  2. A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by CA Fletcher
  3. Girls with Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young
  4. Westside by WM Akers
  5. A Brightness Long Ago by Guy Gavriel Kay
  6. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

  7. Strange Practice by Vivien Shaw
  8. Ration by Cody T Luff
  9. The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow
  10. Ivory Apples by Lisa Goldstein

Great list 🙂 I loved A Boy and His Dog too. I have Ten Thousand Doors on my TBR pile and will hopefully get round to starting it soon. I still really like the sound of the Vivian Shaw series as well so will have to see whether the library have them.

The Vivian Shaw books are so good. A really original feeling UF – I would read more if the author wanted to revisit.

I did new-to-me authors today as well. The sad thing is that there are still so many out there I want to try – and quite a few are on your list 🙂

Haha – yes, I feel that and had similar feelings reading your list – so many books I still want to read.

I love lists where I recognise many of the books. It’s always good to relate.

Yay, I’ve read six of these! And dang, I completely forgot that GGK had a book out last year, I even have a review copy but I never got a chance to read it.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the GGK, I didn’t know what to expect, and it felt more like a historical read than lots of fantasy, but it was good, the writing impressive, the attention to detail and one particular element which involved a horse race where i was on the edge of my seat.

I really enjoyed it – in fact I would definitely read more, it’s kind of a shame to stick at 3.

This is a really strong list, Lynn – and you’ve persuaded me! I am definitely getting around to A Boy and His Dog AND Ten Thousand Doors:)).

Yay – I hope you love them but I will look forward to your reviews regardless because they’re always excellent and very considerate.

I also discovered a few of these same authors last year. So excited about C.A. Fletcher. 😀
