Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below – I’ll be updating the list next week to include themes for 20202, if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. I’ve also listed events that take place during the year, that I’m aware of, so you can link up your covers – if you’re aware of any events that you think I should include then give me a shout. This week’s theme is:
“When a day that you happen to know is Wednesday starts off by sounding like Sunday, there is something seriously wrong somewhere.” – a cover that is 60s sci fi
This week I’ve gone for a book that I think I’ve used before but I’ve chosen it because it is a book that was originally published in the 60s and I’ve decided to use all 60s covers. My book this week is Dune (Dune #1) by Frank Herbert.
The Covers:
This week my favourite is:
Which is your favourite?
I’ve included events that I’m aware of so that you can perhaps link your themes up where possible (if you know of an event you’d like to share then let me know in the comments). I also have a list prepared for 2020 and so will set up a separate page soon for forthcoming themes. As always, if you wish to submit an idea then leave me a comment.
Next week – A cover that puts you in mind of winter
Future themes: (if you’re struggling with any of these themes then use a ‘freebie’ or one of your favourite covers) (I’ve added some new themes – some of these are slightly different, in order to avoid too much repetition I’m trying to make the themes more of a suggestion that everyone can interpret how they like

I own a copy of the edition that is your fav but I love covers 2 and 3! They really give that old school sci fi vibe :)))
There are some great covers for this book so it is difficult to choose.
Lynn 😀
I really like #2 best, this is a great choice! And I’m so excited to see a bunch of new prompts!
Yeah – I’ve got more prompts lined up so just need to get my act together and add them for the full year.

I love Dune – and you have a smashing collection of covers here, Lynn:)). My favourite is the first one and I also very much like the third one – they both have a feel of the 60s and remind me of my reading experience.
I loved using this title for this week. There really are some great covers for this month.
Lynn 😀
There are, aren’t there?
What a fascinating cover! I never saw it before and I like how the worm shape works as an opening to a desert landscape. 🙂
I love that worm shape with the landscape.
Lynn 😀
I sort of like the 4th one but I think it’s because of the color scheme. I’m also aware that I’ll never read this book. I saw the movie and it was enough for me. I know it’s well loved though.
It’s been a long time since I read it and although I enjoyed it it does seem to be one of those books.
Lynn 😀

Shamefacedly, I have to admit to having never read Dune, although my dad is a big fan of it and I think his copy might have your winning cover on it.
It’s been a long time since I read it and I probably should revisit it at some point.

Dune! i love most of these covers. I’m going to be rereading this early next year for one of my book clubs and I’m pretty excited. 🙂
I hope it works well as a reread.
Lynn 😀
Thanks, me too. We’ll see how it holds up. 🙂
