Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic. Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here. This week’s topic is:
Books I’ve Read (some at least) That I’d Like on my Shelves
I’ve cheated on this week theme – I’ve not read all of these books (yet) but I wanted to highlight them here today. This week I’ve gone with covers that are all from self published authors just to highlight some of the real beauties that are out there. Feast your eyes on these lovelies:
These are all gorgeous! It honestly amazes me to still see slapdash, clearly-done-in-paint covers these days in self-pub because it doesn’t take much to look around and see all your peers shelling out for professional looking covers which probably draw more attention and sell better. It definitely pays to invest a little more on a great cover!
Absolutely – there are some gorgeous covers and I know there’s this whole ‘you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover’ attitude but at the end of the day the cover is the first thing that grabs your attention and so clearly it needs to be good imo.
Lynn 😀
Great spin on this topic. These are all lovely! And this is how you get your self pub book noticed😁
Indeed – great covers always attract the eye.
Lynn 😀
I love that you decided to show self published book covers this week. There are definitely some nice ones.
There really are 😀
Oooh I like the cover of SnowSpelled ❤ I know it is one of the more simple ones you pictured, but its the one that catches my eye!
It’s a lovely cover – and a lovely book too.
Lynn 😀
That reptilian eye peeking from under the skyline in Under Ordshaw is one of the most arresting cover elements I ever met, and it works so well for the story… 🙂
I do really like the covers for that series.
Lynn 😀
What a fabulous gallery of covers – completely laying to rest the belief that only the traditional publishers know how to craft an amazing cover… I absolutely love From the Shadow of the Owl Queen’s Court and Under Ordshaw, which I’ve also read and really enjoyed. But I also like Never Die and The Bastard from Fairyland…
There are some great covers here to be sure.
Lynn 😀
I really do love Benedict Patrick’s covers. I mean, they’re just so very lovely. I’ll admit that cover for The Bastard From Fairyland has me intrigued…
The BFF covers were redone and I think they’re great – well worth it in my opinion.
Lynn 😀
Wow, I usually associate self-publishing with shoddy cover art but someone put a ton of work into these! My favorite is ‘Seraphina’s Lament.’ 🙂
I have to say that some of the recent covers I’ve seen for self published covers, particularly in the Self Published Fantasy Blog Off would give traditionally published books a run for their money. They are some absolute beauties.
