Weekly Wrap Up : 23rd June 2019
Another week just flew by didn’t it. I’m not sure why everything is rushing past me at breakneck speed at the moment but there it is. I can barely remember what we’ve been up to so I’ll move swiftly on. SPFBO5 is very nearly underway – starts at the beginning of July and I’ll be posting about how I plan to handle things this time around – I’ve already posted my covers in preparation for the cover contest and just need to select my three favourites – there are some impressive covers for sure, check them out here. This week I’ve read three books, I did go off plan a little but read two of my scheduled books. The Whisper Man was brilliant, I loved it and in fact it totally creeped me out one night – I was actually scared to go to bed (obviously bear in mind that I’m a raging wuss so it might not be quite as scary for others)! I also read Nocturna and will have a review for that one shortly. It didn’t work out quite as well as I’d hoped but I think that could just be me or a mood thing. Finally, I picked up, Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – I just couldn’t resist all the glowing feedback it seems to be receiving and so far I’ve been really enjoying it. I should have it finished before this post goes live so that makes a total of three books this week. I did also start an audiobook but then was shockingly forgetful about listening to it whenever the opportunity arose. Oh well, that’s what next week is for I suppose. I’m a little behind with reviews but hoping to catch up with some next week which will make my blog seem a bit busier than normal (assuming I stick to my plans) but I would like to get back on track.
So, here’s what I’ve been reading:
My books:
- The Whisper Man by Alex North
- Nocturna by Maya Motayne
-
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Next scheduled reads:
- Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs
- Priest of Lies by Peter McLean
- Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
Upcoming reviews
- King of the Road by RS Belcher
- Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
- Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
- The Corset by Laura Purcell
- The Whisper Man by Alex North
- Nocturna by Maya Motayne
-
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
I’m looking at the calendar and realizing there is only 1 week left in June, but I still have so many June books to read😬 Obviously I’m not going to get to them which makes me sad. But I’m squeezing in a few more, I’m reading Velocity Weapon right now and so far its promising! Can’t wait to hear what you think of Sorcery of Thorns😁
I loved Sorcery of Thorns and hopefully will post a review pretty soon. Hope Velocity Weapon works out well for you – I’ve just read a very positive review for it only this morning.
Lynn 😀
I hope you enjoy soul of the sword! I’m excited to pick it up soon!

Just started so fingers crossed.
Lynn 😀
Cant wait to see what you think of Nocturna. I loved it but I didn’t read the book everyone seems to be comparing it to.
I didn’t read the other book either but tbh Nocturna didn’t work out too well for me which was a shame. I’m glad that you loved it though.
Lynn 😀
I’m sorry it didnt work out for you. It seemed very hit or miss for everyone.
Yes, I’ve seen some of the reviews. It’s a shame, I really wanted to love it so perhaps my expectations were just all wrong going in to the read.
Lynn 😀
I recently finished Sorcery of Thorns and I absolutely loved it!
Me too – plus – that ending!
Lynn 😀
I know we’ve discussed its awesomeness already, but I still can’t wait to read your full review of The Corset/Poison Thread!!!
Yes, I’ll be reviewing this very soon – I’d like to really catch up with all my reviews before SPFBO – although that does mean my blog will seem to be ridiculously busy – oh well!
Lynn 😀
I love the look of The Corset, Lynn and Himself is looking forward to the Mercy Thompson series, which I’ve lost track off… I hope you have a great reading week – the cover for Nocturna looks fab. Best of luck with the opening salvo of this up-coming SPFBO!
The Corset was brilliant, I absolutely loved it and it was a straight out 5* read for me. I can’t wait to read more by Purcell.
I’m getting on with the Mercy series – I have the latest one waiting for me to pick up – hopefully this week.
Lynn 😀
Seems like kind of a whirlwind week! I also can’t believe a new SPFBO is starting already, seems like the last one went by so fast.
I know this SPFBO does seem to have come along very quickly. I think we had more of a break last time.
Lynn 😀
