Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy .  This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers.  The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite.   Future week’s themes are listed below – the list has been updated to help out those of you who like to plan ahead – if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. This week’s theme:

“Woe, destruction, ruin, and decay; the worst is death and death will have his day.” – A cover with abandoned building/s

Well, I struggled with this theme I can’t deny it.  I could have used a book that I’ve already used but I didn’t want to do so and so after much, much trawling through books I came up with the third book in the Forest of Hands and Teeth – The Dark and Hollow Places – which I think fits the theme.

The covers:

My favourite this week is:

I quite like the cover with the ruined city too.

Like last week I’ve added a Mr Linky here so that you can leave a link if you wish or please leave me a link in the comments so I can visit and check out your covers.  Thanks

I’ll be updating the list soon to take it through a few more months – if you have any suggestions you’d like to see adding then drop a note in the comments.  Thanks

Next week – A cover featuring a shop or market

Future themes: (if you’re struggling with any of these themes then use a ‘freebie’ of one of your favourite covers)

8th March – ‘Two little fishes and a momma fishy too’ – A cover featuring a fish/fishes or other sea creatures

15th March – ‘Beware the moon, lads.’ – A cover with a shapeshifter

22nd March – ‘A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse’ – A cover featuring a king

Thanks, Lynn, these were all beautiful indeed. My favourite is the one with the buildings -I love the bleak colour 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

I also like the one with the buildings – it was a close second.
      Lynn 😀

It was a tricky one this week, wasn’t it? I’m with Steph – I really like the cover with the abandoned buildings… And apologies for mucking up the Linky Link – I’ve grandchilden staying so I’m trying to multitask with varying degrees of success! Have a great weekend:)

    • @lynnsbooks

Multi tasking is such fun!! Lol
      Lynn 😀

      • sjhigbee

Of course… and because I’m female and of a certain age, I’m deemed to be MARVELLOUS at multi-tasking! Snag is, I’ve never been all that good at it as I’m the ultimate monotasker and while I’ve always enjoyed spending a lot of time around children – that is the aspect of childcare I’ve always found exhausting!

      • @lynnsbooks

        Monotasker – that’s a keeper.
        Lynn 😀

      • sjhigbee

Hm… wish I could keep multi-tasker and let monotasker go! My life would so much easier…

  3. Friday Faceoff – Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace… #Brainfluffbookblog #FridayFaceoff | Brainfluff

[…] UK and US book covers and decide which is we prefer. This meme is currently being nurtured by Lynn’s Book Blog and the subject this week featuring on any of our covers is ABANDONED BUILDINGS, so I’ve selected […]

  4. Barb (boxermommyreads)

I like the same one as well. However, this is a series where I couldn’t get past the first book in the series.

    • @lynnsbooks

Haha, I think you and a lot of others. I did read all this series = I was going through an ‘I love zombies phase’.
      Lynn 😀

  5. Friday Face Off: Abandoned Buildings – Perfectly Tolerable

[…] This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but currently run by Lynn’s Book Blog. […]

  6. PerfectlyTolerable

You could have used this book last week too! And I agree with your pick 🙂

  7. maddalena@spaceandsorcery

Yes, those ruined buildings in the skyline together with the dark clouds approaching give a strong sense of menace, or impending doom… brrrrr!!! 😀

  8. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

I like the one of you chose – simple, but powerful in its stark imagery!

  9. waytoofantasy

Oooh, I really like the one with the city on it but probably because of the color 🤣

  10. Carmen

I like the one next to it.
