You will, you will, you will, eventually!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic.  Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by  The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here.  This week’s topic is:

Books I Meant to Read In 2018 but Didn’t Get To

So many.  Where to start.  This could be a long post!!  No, I will show restraint.  Look, you can’t read everything, there just simply isn’t the time and I confess that the last two months have been kind of hectic for me which have resulted in things slipping a little.  I’ve decided to go with ten books that I bought last year – unfortunately the books I buy usually play second fiddle to the books I’ve requested for review – which is fair enough really – so here are 10 – I bought many more but I’ve stuck to 10 (probably to try and make myself feel less guilty):

  1. Dark Eden by Chris Beckett
  2. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
  3. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
  4. Ghosts of Tomorrow by Michael R Fletcher
  5. False Hearts by Laura Lam
  6. Servant of Rage by AZ Anthony
  7. The Woven Ring by MD Presley
  8. Starless by Jacqueline Carey
  9. City of Kings by Rob J Hayes
  10. The Lost Plot (The Invisible Library series Book 4) Genevieve Cogman

Feast your eyes on these lovelies and then tell me – which should I read first!?

    Me reading your list:

Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle – yeah, ok
    The Night Circus – yeeeeeees

    • @lynnsbooks

Okay – that’s a strong vote for False Hearts – thank you muchly.
      Lynn 😀

I know nothing of any of these, but wow, City of Kings has the most ominous looking rose of all time! that cover certainly grabs my attention!

    • @lynnsbooks

It’s a great cover isn’t it – definitely would make me stop and pick it up from the shelves.
      Lynn 😀

Yes… I feel your pain. Dark Eden is really worth tucking into – but I also haven’t had the pleasure of The Lost Plot or Starless and yet I need them in my life:)). Love the nod to Father Ted :)).

    • @lynnsbooks

I need to catch up with so many series. It’s quite numbing in some ways.
      Lynn 😀

Oh I know… I’m going to write a moaning blog about it soon.

I just hate making these lists, I always feel so bad! I’ve heard really good things about Ghosts of Tomorrow. Hope you get the chance to read at least some of these😊

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, I read more of my own books last year that I thought when I looked back, that being said, probably only about 10% or maybe less. But, you never know.
      Lynn 😀

It’s so hard to get to every book you want to read. Seeing my tbr pile both makes me happy (books!) and feel guilty lol. I’ve only read Starless of these and quite enjoyed it. The structure was like a trilogy inside a single book. Hope you get to these soon!

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, I never say never. Looking back through last year’s books I did manage to complete some of my own but very few unfortunately.
      Lynn 😀

Ah, the pain of the roads not taken….!!! 🙂
Being a book lover and dealing with regrets for the books we could not fit into our reading queue are one and the same. But you’re right, we’ll get there eventually!

    • @lynnsbooks

One day – one day, I’ll be organised and measured. Maybe not in the foreseeable future though…
      Lynn 😀

  7. Lisa (@TenaciousReader)

Starless and Night Circus are both excellent!

  8. Carmen

I looooved The Night Circus; it’s decadent and whimsical. I hope that you like it a great deal. I want to read The Seven Deaths…; I read intriguing reviews of it last year.

  9. Zezee

I say move Night Circus to the top of books to read next. Such a good read. I love it for the writing and setting.

  10. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

Bump Starless to the top! Right now! 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

Haha – I could probably have two top books in fairness because Starless is audio 😀

  11. PerfectlyTolerable

Ahhh there are so many books to I meant to read that I didn’t get to in 2018! I did get to The Night Circus tho! It was good but I would suggest reading it in print. I listened to the Audiobook and it was a bit hard to follow.

    • @lynnsbooks

Thanks for the tip – I don’t read many books in audio and fortunately this is one I bought for kindle 😀
      Lynn 😀

  12. melissamyworldinwordsandpages

I wouldn’t even know where to start. They all look great! I have a long list of 2018 books I need to read.

    • @lynnsbooks

Yep, too many books – too little time. (But, good problems to have I suppose :D)

  13. Amanda @Cover2CoverMom

I highly recommend The Night Circus and The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle! Just keep in mind that The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is a very dense book to read. It probably has one of the most complex plotlines that I’ve ever read. Just make sure you pay attention lol
