Friday Face Off :   ‘All right! They’re spiders from Mars! You happy?’

FFO.jpg

Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy .  This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers.  The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite.   Future week’s themes are listed below – the list has been updated to help out those of you who like to plan ahead – if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. This week’s theme:

‘All right! They’re spiders from Mars! You happy?’ – A cover featuring a critter of the eight legged variety

I had two or three books this week but eventually went for : Skitter (The Hatching #2) by Ezekiel Boone:

I’m not overly keen on the top three covers to be honest and I have no idea what the idea behind the third cover is at all.  It certainly stands out in this bunch as the odd one out.  I like the bottom two covers.  I like the purple and black but on balance my favourite is:

Skitter2

Like last week I’ve added  a Mr Linky here so that you can leave a link if you wish or please leave me a link in the comments so I can visit and check out your covers.  Thanks

Next week – a scary cover

Oh I hate spiders. 🙂 As for the covers, I like the third one (for some reason- not even sure why) and the purple one, but ugh… all those spiders…

    • @lynnsbooks

I really like the purple one too – but then, it’s purple!
      Lynn 😀

I’m very fond of spiders – I love it when they festoon the garden with dew-jewelled webs… I think they are amazing. But I think your covers are fabulous – my spider influence is downright wussy in comparison:)). Yes – your cover is definitely my choice, though I also like the middle one in the top – the title suspended by that web is quirky and effective, I think. Great choice, Lynn!

    • @lynnsbooks

Thanks Sarah – I thought about Harry Potter this week – the Chamber of Secrets has lots of spiders but I couldn’t find a cover to that effect.
      Lynn 😀

      • sjhigbee

No… I think the OTHER inhabitants of the Chamber of Secrets hit the covers instead!

      • @lynnsbooks

        Yup – that’s what I found anyway. Maybe if I kept looking…
        Lynn 😀

      • sjhigbee

        :)))

I think the second is my favorite, I love the blue and the way the webs are over the title. Great choice, spider books are tough!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah, – I thought this topic would be easy but it really wasn’t.
      Lynn 😀

  6. waytoofantasy

I think the spider cover would be the same as a scary cover to me 😂😂😂
    I like your pick here!

  7. maddalena@spaceandsorcery

Adrian Tchaikovsky’s book cured me (in part) of my fear of spiders, so I could enjoy your cover selection more than I might have in the past 😀 so your choice looks just perfect…

    • @lynnsbooks

Ahh, trust Adrian Tchaikovsky not only to write a great book but also cure you of any fear of spiders.
      Lynn 😀

  8. PerfectlyTolerable

Hahah I agree with your choice even tho that cover gives me the creepie crawlies 😂😂

  9. Carmen

I, too, like both bottom covers, for me the purple more than the other though.

    • @lynnsbooks

I really do like both – for different reasons. I think the use of purple is interesting – it feels like the other cover pops a little bit more but the purple is just attractive.
      Lynn 😀

Haha, I figured this series would be popular this week! I ended up using the first book because it had more covers, but there are some great versions of the sequels too. I don’t know if I can deal with your winner pick, it looks like a SPIDER EXPLOSION, arrghhhh!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah – an explosion of spiders – what more could you ask for.
      Lynn 😀

  11. jessicabookworm

Lynn, I don’t know this book, but four of these five covers are giving me a good idea that it is probably too scary for me! Your choice is great, however it has to be the purple cover for me… simply because it is purple! 😀

  12. Mission Status Update: reach for the stars – x+1

[…] but Friday was bad for arachnophobes as Lynn set the Friday Face/off prompt to spiders, with Lynn, Tammy and Mogsy all celebrating (or torturing us with, your call) cover art from around the world […]
