Can’t Wait Wednesday : Broken Lands (Broken Lands #1) by Jonathan Maberry

Can't Wait Wednesday

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme that was originally created by Breaking the Spine.  Unfortunately Breaking the Spine are no longer hosting so I’m now linking my posts up to Wishful Endings Can’t Wait Wednesday. Don’t forget to stop over, link up and check out what books everyone else is waiting for.  If you want to take part, basically, every Wednesday, we highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to.  This week my book is : Broken Lands (Broken Lands #1) by Jonathan Maberry

brokenlands.jpgNew York Times bestselling author Jonathan Maberry returns to the world of Rot & Ruin with this first novel in a brand-new series that’s more thrilling and filled with exceptionally terrifying adventures.

Ever since her mother’s death, Gabriella “Gutsy” Gomez has spent her days flying under the radar. But when her mother’s undead body is returned to her doorstep from the grave and Gutsy witnesses a pack of ravagers digging up Los Muertos—her mother’s name for the undead—she realizes that life finds you no matter how hard you try to hide from it.

Meanwhile, Benny Imura and his gang set out on a journey to finish what Captain Joe Ledger started: they’re going to find a cure. After what they went through in the Rot and Ruin, they think they’ve seen it all, but as they venture into new and unexplored territory, they soon learn that the zombies they fought before were nothing compared to what they’ll face in the wild beyond the peace and safety of their fortified town.

Due for publication December 2018

I haven’t read any of his work, but this one sounds really good – I love the cover! Thank you for sharing this one, Lynn.

I’m going to do a ‘Sarah’ with this one – in other words I haven’t read the other books but I’m hoping I can jump straight into this one as it is the start of a new series (set in the same world).
      Lynn 😀

Ooo – yes! Go for it and see what happens! Most of the time it works for me:))

      • @lynnsbooks

        Will do 😀

Very cool, I hadn’t heard about this yet. I have not read Rot & Ruin but it’s always been on my TBR.

    • @lynnsbooks

Same – I never read Rot and Ruin but I’m hoping I can jump straight in!
      Lynn 😀

Love that cover and now I’m super interested in Roy and Ruin because I know I’ll want to read this one.

Well, confession, I haven’t read Rot and Ruin even though I bought a copy a long time ago. I’m kind of hoping I can jump straight into this as it is the start of a new series? I could be terribly wrong of course…
      Lynn 😀

Intriguing. Have fun when you get to it. Did you read Rot and Ruin?

    • @lynnsbooks

No, I didn’t read the first books so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can jump straight in – time will tell.
      Lynn 😀

Zombies! There’s something in this narrative element that always draws my attention, so I will keep this one on my radar. Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

I didn’t read Rot and Ruin but I’m hoping that I can jump straight in with this one.
      Lynn 😀

I think this could be good. I probably wouldn’t have picked it up based on the cover, but the description sounds interesting!

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, tbh, I did buy a copy of Rot and Ruin years ago but then I never found time to read it so I’m hoping that I can just read this without having read the others – time will tell I suppose.
      Lynn 😀

Haven’t heard of the author before but this sounds really cool! And I love that she’s carrying a hockey stick on the cover. The Canadian in me approves 😀
