Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below – the list has been updated to help out those of you who like to plan ahead – if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. This week’s theme:
‘To be a legend, you’ve either got to be dead, or excessively old!’ – A cover with a title featuring the word ‘legend’
This week I’m thinking should be relatively easy to find a book. Let’s see if we all come up with something different. My choice this week was inevitable and never in doubt in my mind. I thought of it as soon as the prompt came up: I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. There are a lot of covers for this book – I’ve not shown them all here.
My covers:
Lots to choose from and two movie tie in covers included as well. My favourite this week:

That was my first choice as well and a pretty good one. I got a paperback with Wil Smith given to me but I never read it. I watched the movie instead.
Ahh, the book is really quite bleak but the ending is very different from the film – I do think the film is good but I wish the ending hadn’t been changed because, for me, it gives meaning to the title.
Lynn 😀
Oh well I probably should read the book then . Take care
You too 😀
I actually had a lot of trouble! All the books I could have used, I’ve either featured before or there weren’t enough covers to do a face-off. So I went with something I hadn’t read. Wish I had read this one though, it’s a good choice! I kinda like the hot pink one…your winner will give me nightmares, lol!
Ahh, that’s interesting. I’m not sure if I’ve used this before – I probably have in other memes – I love that scary cover.
Lynn 😀
Yikes! That one is pretty scary. 🙂 I like the Will Smith one, and the retro one before the Will Smith one.
I think the movie tie in is winning this week.
Lynn 😀
The one you picked is actually the one I own and yep, I do believe it’s the creepiest. Although I also have to admit, even though I’m not a huge fan of movie tie-in covers, I do like the Will Smith one as well.
It’s a good cover actually, I don’t usually like movie tie-ins either.
Lynn 😀
We picked the same book! I knew I wouldn’t be the only one😊 We picked almost completely different covers, though. I think I like the green one at the bottom far left.
There are some good covers for this one – and, yeah, it was the first book that came to mind for me.
Lynn 😀
Lots of freaky covers! I think I like the movie tie-in one (the third one) the best, which is rare for me (I usually am not fond of tie-in covers) but the rest are just a little too dark maybe or something? I do like the 5th one though a bit, as it feels like it highlights him and the dog fighting together?
I don’t usually like tie-ins but I do think this one is good too.
Lynn 😀
I really love that fuscia cover! It’s tough t read the lettering but those colors are striking.
Yeah, it’s a surprising cover for this book – not one I expected but definitely striking.
Lynn 😀
That scary skull-vampire is such a powerful image that I could not imagine a different choice! Bloody perfect… 😀
I think so too 😀
[…] This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but kept up by Lynn’s Book Blog. […]
I kind of like the first one because the tagline is more prominent than the title and its kind of fun 😂😂 But if I was picking seriously I agree with your choice!
Thanks 😀
I cannot believe I am saying this – but it’s the Will Smith cover that does it for me… A good choice for this week’s theme, Lynn:).
Actually, as movie tie in covers go – I think that’s a really good one.
Lynn 😀
Yes – that was my conclusion!
[…] UK and US book covers and decide which is we prefer. This meme is currently being nurtured by Lynn’s Book Blog and the theme this week featuring on any of our covers is the word LEGEND. I’ve selected Myths […]
Most of these covers I’d probably not have anywhere near my room…especially near the bed! I’ll go with either Will Smith or the pink one–they’re least likely to give me nightmares. 😀
Haha – I love the scary cover – although dolls and clowns – maybe not so much.
Lynn 😀
Lynn, I am quite a fan of the SF Masterwork covers which is your winner this time… but this cover might be a bit too scary for me!
Haha, yes, it is indeed a creepy cover – but I just love it.
Lynn 😀
