July : My Month in Review
How quickly is this year flying by? The seventh month takes a bow and leaves the stage and I feel like the year so far has been speeding by at such a breakneck speed that I’m just a little bit dizzy. Haha – just to cheer you all up there’s only 147 days until Christmas and a really depressing thought just occurred to me – it won’t be too much longer, no doubt, before Christmas goodies and decorations start appearing in shops (it seems earlier every year) *shakes fist in curmudgeonly fashion* Anyway, this month I’ve read a total of seven books, I’m catching up with my reviews and I’ve been very restrained in both requesting and buying books – I am determined to start reading some of my backlog. My lovely looking covers are here. Here’s my month in review:
Books read: this month = 7
- One of Us by Craig DiLouie
- Redemption’s Blade by Adrian Tchaikovsky
- Little Eve by Catriona Ward
- Hunted by GX Todd – review to follow

- Bitter Orange by Claire Fuller – review to follow
- Wrath of God by Dyrk Ashton review to follow

I have a couple of covers to compare and also a cover for Dark Water:
Which is your favourite? I’m favouring the first book in both cases.

Finally, the SPFBO officially starts tomorrow – my posts will have the following banner so will be easy to recognise. I’ll be posting tomorrow about my approach this year. I also have a few interviews scheduled and have made a start on a couple of my books.

It’s been a great month, Lynn – so many cracking books out there! I’m fascinated to see what you made of Bitter Orange. All the very best for this year’s SPFBO! I hope you have a great August:)
Thanks Sarah – hope you have a great August too. Bitter Orange, I finished it earlier. The writing is superb, it’s a bit of a slow burner book, there’s no fantasy elements and the ending, well, I kind of guessed it, but it was a good read, a story that is just heading for disaster.
Lynn 😀
This year has been flying by for sure! July especially. Looks like you had a great month. Good luck with the blogoff!
I agree, time is just flying by. I wish everything would slow down! I also like the first two books in your cover compare😁
I don’t know where this year is going to but I feel like I’m on a fairground ride and everything is rushing past me in a blur and I just want to get off and go on a much slower one – like the teacups for goodness sake.
Lynn 😀
The US covers for the Empire of Dust books feel so plain compared to the UK editions!
I love that UK cover – it’s so dramatic.
Lynn 😀
Ugh, I’m not ready for this year to keep flying by. I need a bit more summer.
I know – please slow down. PLEASE!!
Lynn 😀
Lynn, I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by either! And July was another super busy month for me, however I did manage to complete five books which is much better than my previous two months. As for the covers, I agree that I prefer the first cover for each book and the cover for Dark Water is very atmospheric. Happy reading in August 🙂
You too Jessica, hope August is a great month for you.
Lynn 😀
Thank you 🙂
