Friday Face Off : Trip trap, trip trap, trip trap

Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below – the list has been updated to help out those of you who like to plan ahead – if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. This week’s theme:
Trip trap, trip trap, trip trap – a cover featuring footsteps
Wow this week was a struggle. I did eventually manage to find a couple of books but I finally decided upon Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe because it’s covers are perfect for this week’s theme:
Being a classic there were of course plenty of covers but I’ve kept to a reasonable number. I think my choice this week is between these two:
And, simply because I find the white banner along the bottom a little annoying my favourite this week is:

Next week – a cover featuring creeping vines

This is a great choice 🙂 It’s my first week doing the Friday Face Off and I was amazed how difficult it was for me to choose LOL.
Haha – I hope it’s the first of many weeks for you. Sometimes the themes are a bit tough I must admit – and sometimes choosing between the covers equally so. I look forward to seeing what you came up with.
Lynn 😀
This was a great choice! I struggled with this theme as well. I really love both the second cover and the second to last. Quite a variety here!
Yes, lots of covers available for this particular book – in fact I became a bit bogged down in looking at them all so decided to quit while I was ahead.
Lynn 😀
Perfect choice! That lone footprint in the sand speaks of the man’s total isolation more than a thousand words…
Yes, I hadn’t really thought of that, but you’re quite right.

I like the green cover best! Its really pretty 🙂 I am not a huge fan of the Barnes and Noble covers with the peach boarders, but I like the image of the footprint
Yeah, I really like that green cover too – it’s so unusual for this story.
Lynn 😀
I love robinson6 with the ideal desert island. I do like your sandy footprint, but I’m frankly allergic to heavy borders with a small box for the artwork – but this is a great choice for the subject, which was quite tricky to find:)
It was definitely a tricky theme. Could do with some nice easy ones after that!
Lynn 😀
Oh yes! That would be great:))
I like the first cover on top despite the lack of footprints. 😉
It is actually a really fitting cover for this story tbh.
Lynn 😀
I like the one in the very center. Something about the image of a palm tree calms me…tropical paradise and all 🙂
That cover makes me want to go on holiday. I should be lying under that palm tree with a book and a long drink of something nice.
Lynn 😀
Lynn, I have soft spot for the Collins Classics cover – I have a few classics in their editions, although not Robinson Crusoe. The copy I have is my granddad’s old hardback copy, which he was bought when he was a child in hospital with appendicitis. Apparently it is one of three books he has ever read in his life… Only three books I hear you cry? I know! Not sure if we’re truly related, accept that I also had appendicitis as a child 😉
Your granddad sounds a little like my husband. He’s read more than three books – but that’s probably about the sum total of books that he reads each year. It’s lovely that you have your granddad’s copy.
Lynn 😀
Yes, it also has his childish scribbles here and there in it 🙂
That’s so lovely.
Lynn 😀
