Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
Where there’s fire there’s… – a cover featuring smoke
I thought I might struggle this week but I looked on my shelves and came up with a couple of books I could use but I absolutely couldn’t resist using : Howl’s Moving Castle (Howl’s Moving Castle #1) by Diana Wynne Jones. I love this book. I love the film too.
This is difficult to choose. The green and purple (end of second row from the bottom) was the copy I owned and so obviously I like that cover, I also like the bottom left cover. I also like the two top corners but,
My favourite this week :
I do like this cover although that is one rather big castle! Still, I like this one
Next week – a cover that is mediaeval
Future themes:
27th April – ‘Those darling byegone times… with their delicious fortresses, and their dear old dungeons, and their delightful places of torture’ – a cover that is positively mediaeval
4th May- ‘A Hand without a hand? A bad jape, sister.’ – a cover featuring a hand/hands
11th May – ‘Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth’ – a cover featuring a dinosaur/s
18th May – ‘Let’s talk of graves, of worms, and epitaphs;’ – a cover featuring a gravestone
25th May – Trip trap, trip trap, trip trap – a cover featuring footsteps
1st June – clinging and invasive – a cover featuring creeping vines
8th June – Raining Cats and Dogs – a cover featuring a stormy sky
Super hard to choose, but I’ll go with the bottom left. I love the colors😁
Yeah, that’s a lovely cover.
Lynn 😀
I agree with your choice! Tho I also like the second to last cover, where the castle has legs.
Castles with legs – what’s not to like!
Lynn 😀
[…] This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but kept up by Lynn’s Book Blog. […]
I think I’d also pick the bottom left
Yeah, that’s a great cover and makes me smile.
Lynn 😀
I fancy the last one; it’s so colorful and evocative! 😉
It’s a very colourful bunch of covers isn’t it. Playful almost.
Lynn 😀
A difficult choice: I love these covers and the moving castle is… well, “adorable” might not be the perfect word, but I like it… 😀
Actually – adorable is the perfect word. I love it.
Lynn 😀
I love your choice and I also like the cover with the castle running away on legs… Delightfully steampunkish:)). What a good book to select for this week’s theme, Lynn.
I do love this book – and the film – so I was happy when I thought of it.
Lynn 😀
I’ve never seen the film – and I think I ought to.
You could watch it with your grandchildren – I’m desperately trying to recall what age it’s appropriate for but I don’t think there’s anything untoward.
Lynn 😀
I’m sure it won’t be unsuitable:). I’ll have a hunt around for it…
Hope you enjoy it – I love a bit of anime so it works well for me.
Lynn 😀
Definitely, no contest, your pick is the best there!
Loads of covers for this one – I could have gone on for days!
Lynn 😀
The green and purple one is both the one i own and my favourite, but your pick is a close second. I think most of them are too childish for my tastes.
They are very childlike but I still like them – especially the castle that’s walking. But then, I love the film too.
Lynn 😀
Shockingly I still haven’t read this! I am initially drawn to the purple and green in the cover at the end of the second row from the bottom, however I really like the illustration on the cover on the bottom left. 🙂
Have you seen the film? I love it.
Lynn 😀
No, I haven’t seen the film either!
