Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds – a Psychedelic cover
This week I had a few books in mind – there are some cracking sci-fi covers that would have fit this week’s theme but I’ve gone for a book that is a bit trippy to read and has a cover to match: The Hike by Drew Magary. I loved this book and think it deserves a shout out whenever possible:
I like the original cover – which is the fourth one shown but my favourite this week is:
Because of the funky blue crab.
Which is your favourite?
Next week – a cover featuring a cloaked figure
Future themes:
9th February – ‘My what big teeth you have’ – a cover featuring a cloaked figure
16th February – ‘Groovy baby’ – a cover that is: Retro
23rd February – “There are too many steps in this castle, and it seems to me they add a few every night, just to vex me” – a cover featuring a staircase

I am making it a point to read this very soon! Everyone seems to love it:-)
This was great – just so unexpected in every way.
Lynn 😀
Yes! That one in my favorite too! 🙂 I really wanted to like the Chinese one, but I kept feeling like there was something aspect about it that wasn’t complied polished-off or finished yet?
Yeah, I know what you mean. Plus – gigantic, psychedelic crab – what’s not to like.
Lynn 😀
Looks like we chose the same book! My favorite was the Viking edition 😀
Haha – out of all the books! I was going to go with a retro sci fi book – some of those were very psychedelie indeed.
Lynn 😀
That crab in the middle of the page is certainly eye-catching! And it shouts “weird!!!” at the top its lungs… that it, if crabs have lungs… 😀 😀
I don’t know if crabs have lungs – possibly not – but this one would certainly shout ‘weird’ if it did.
Lynn 😀
Nice choice. I like the second cover.
This was such an unusual book – not surprising it has psychedelic covers to match.
Lynn 😀
I love these covers! My favourite is the fourth cover but hours comes a close second!! 😀
The Fourth is really good and is the cover I’m most familiar with – but I had to go with the crab. 😀
I love your choices here! I am also a big fan of the Friday Face-Off, but last year sadly got in the way of my participation. I am all set to join you again on the Face-Off trail from this Friday!
Excellent – I look forward to checking out your posts.
Lynn 😀
It was so good getting back into searching for covers. Think I have chosen my book covers for through to April so far!
Oooh, good pick! I like the original cover too, but my favourite is actually the first one! There’s something about the placement of the images that just works for me.
This book is so perfect for this week because the content is also just as psychedelic as the covers.
Lynn 😀
