“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme that was originally created by Breaking the Spine. Unfortunately Breaking the Spine are no longer hosting so I’m now linking my posts up to Wishful Endings Can’t Wait Wednesday. Don’t forget to stop over, link up and check out what books everyone else is waiting for. If you want to take part, basically, every Wednesday, we highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to. This week my book is : Between the Blade and the Heart (Valkyrie #1) by Amanda Hocking:
Blade Runner meets Game of Thrones in Between the Blade and the Heart, a gripping story of love and revenge from Amanda Hocking, author of the Trylle trilogy and the Kanin Chronicles.
Malin is a Valkyrie-in-training. It’s her responsibility to slay immortals, returning them to the afterlife to maintain balance in the world. She also struggles to maintain balance in her own life – between her studies, her duties as a Valkyrie and her conflicting feelings for her ex-girlfriend.
But when a beguiling stranger breaks into her home on a quest for vengeance, Malin’s carefully balanced life falls apart. Asher is hunting the rogue immortal who murdered his mother, and he thinks Malin may have information. Her loyalties are tested, as she uncovers a betrayal that unravels everything she thought she knew. And she must decide if helping the mysterious Asher enact his revenge is worth the risk – to the world, and to her heart.
Due for publication: February 2018
Blade Runner meets Game of Thrones… you got me here. Is it going to keep the promise, you think? I don’t know this author, but if it’s true… 😀
Let’s see – firstly, I was getting her confused with another author (coincidentally an author that hadn’t quite worked out for me in the past but I wanted to give her another go) – as it is she’s the author of a book I read recently called Freeks, again, I liked it but didn’t love it – so I’m hoping this one will live up to it’s promise.
Lynn 😀
Well, I’ll stay tuned to see what happens 🙂
Thanks – I’ve got my fingers crossed for this one.
Lynn 😀
It sounds so mysterious…This one may be a goodie.
I hope so 😀
I didn’t have much luck with the first Trylle book, and I haven’t read anything by Amanda Hocking since. Maybe it’s time to try her again?
Yeah, I think I was confusing her with another author but she’s the one who wrote Freeks. I’d like to give her another shot though and see how this works out.
Lynn 😀
Valkyries – and a cross between GoT and Blade Runner: if you wanted me to pay attention, you did it quite well! WOW 🙂
It is a very intriguing description.
Lynn 😀
Ooooh! A beguiling stranger. I love those! LOL I hope you enjoy this one.
Thanks – I hope so too.
Lynn 😀
I very much enjoyed Freeks and this one sounds great. Looking forward to getting hold of this one, Lynn:)
Freeks was okay – I had some niggles and thought it could have been better but I do look forward to this one and seeing how she gets on with this storyline.
Lynn 😀
Ooh, I was offered a review copy of this. I didn’t like her last book so much, but I can’t resist Valkyries!
Yeah, I think I read her earlier series – or at least a couple of them, not sure if that’s the one you mean but it didn’t work out for me – but, I thought I’d like to give this one a chance.
Lynn 😀
Oh no – her last one was the circus one wasn’t it – I’m thinking of a different author (similar name). Freeks was okay but I thought it was a bit of a missed chance in many ways. It wasn’t enough horror/circus and the whole town/boy/relationship was too thinly sketched.
Lynn 😀
Wow – what a cover. I’m loving it. I’ve had this on my radar and am waiting along side of you.
Yay – let’s hope it’s a good one hey.
Lynn 😀
