Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
‘zip it, lock it and throw away the key – a cover featuring a key
This week I’ve chosen a book with a key on the cover and the title! That was actually just pure chance though – and you have to look quite closely to find the key. Mark Lawrence’s Liar’s Key (#2 in The Red Queen’s War):
Interesting to see the different takes on Prince Jalan. If you haven’t read the Red Queen’s War by Mark Lawrence I highly recommend it starting with The Prince of Fools and concluding with The Wheel of Osheim.
My favourite:

Which is your favourite?
Next week – a cover featuring a double image or reflection
Future themes:
17th November 2017 – Snap! – a cover featuring a double image or reflection
24th November 2017 – ‘I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently’ – a cover featuring snow
1st December 2017 – The pen is mightier than the sword – a cover featuring a fancy font
8th December 2017 – ‘Do not go gentle’ – a cover featuring the night…
15th December 2017 – Hubble bubble toil and trouble – a cover featuring a portion/perfume bottle
Ha!😂 I never spotted the key! I took part this week and immediately thought of this book due to its name but chose a different book with a key on the cover and then added this book as an extra afterwards, should have paid more attention as I’d have seen the key!😂😂😂
To be fair, you really do have to zoom in on that cover to see the key. Just gave it a try and hoped for the best.
Lynn 😀
I kind of like the one with the red background but the one you chose is my second favorite. And you are right, you really have to look for the key!
Yeah, really, with a magnifying glass – but it is there.
Lynn 😀
I like the red cover with the golden title.
Yeah, that is nice. I got kind of hooked on my favourite cover and now there’s no getting past it.
Lynn 😀
Well, a cover featuring a big (very big) bad wolf and a guy with big, bad sword has to be the winner! 😀
My thoughts exactly.
Lynn 😀
The middle cover for the Liar’s Key stands out to me.
OK, so I read the post in my e-mail and the cover was in the middle then! The red one with the gold lettering jumped out at me!
I think the fourth one – I like the cloaked figure with the red background and I prefer the covers without the poor stabbed wolf…
In that red cover, that’s a key he’s holding in his fist? Oh my goodness, I’ve looked at that image like hundreds of times and I never noticed that detail until you mentioned it!
I was hopeful and I zoomed in and there it was – I’d never seen it before either so I just got lucky 😀
I haven’t read this book, so I don’t know which cover suits the book, but I like the second red cover.
