‘A dragon is not a slave’

FFO.jpg

Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy .   This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers.  The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite.   Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:

You have nice manners for a thief, and a LIAR!’  – a cover with a dragon

Plenty of covers with dragons for this week.  Of course I immediately thought of Smaug  but I thought I’d step out of character and use something different (for me that is!): A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire #5) by George R.R. Martin

My favourite is the last one.

Which is your favourite?

Next week – a cover featuring a Shadow

Future themes:

20th October 2017 – ‘Me and my….’ – a cover featuring a Shadow

27th October 2017 – “Thus with a kiss I die” – a cover featuring a couple

3rd November 2017 – ‘Desperate affairs require desperate measures’ – a regency style cover

10th November 2017 – ‘zip it, lock it and throw away the key – a cover featuring a key

Lots of covers for this one. I like the ones with Dany and Drogon, but my favorite is the green cover with the dragon at the center, very classy.

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah -it certainly is a classy cover – which is why I was hard pressed to pick another cover.
      Lynn 😀

There’s a great selection here, Lynn:). My favourite has to be the one with Tyrion standing in the prow of the boat with the dragon appearing out of the mist – but during our GoT watch-fest, we only very recently sat through this episode…

    • @lynnsbooks

I have to admit that I love that cover too – but them I’m partial to Tyrion. Definitely one of my favourite characters.
      Lynn 😀

Oh yes… though I’ve grown a bit wary about getting too attached to ANY of them. Watching poor Lady Stark getting her throat cut was a tad devastating! As for seeing Jon Snow stabbed – I was hyperventilating…

      • @lynnsbooks

Yep – that wedding – oh my giddy aunt! And the Jon Snow stabbing – yes, I was hyperventilating too. But, I think Tyrion is my favourite and I’d probably have a conniption if anything happens to him!
        Lynn 😀

I love “Tanec S Draky” best, plus I just love saying the title out loud (and I’m sure I’m pronouncing it wrong!)

Your choice is the one I own as well, so of course I agree with you 🙂
The dragon on the right-hand cover in the third row is not bad, but the woman riding it and her ridiculous hair spoil the overall effect…

I normally don’t think much of movie/TV show tie-in covers, but I have to say there’s something about the second to last image that gives me all the feels. I’ve seen it used for some hbo promo posters and it always gives me chills.

    • @lynnsbooks

It’s a great cover isn’t it – I really like it, and, like you, I never like movie or tv tie-in covers.
      Lynn 😀

My copy has the last cover – I haven’t read it yet though…I have been saving myself 😉
