Every Tuesday over at  The Broke and Bookish we all get to look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) examples to demonstrate that particular topic.  This week’s topic is:

Throwback Freebie: Ten Books I Loved During ??

I’ve gone for 2011 – this was a good year for me and the first that I started really listing my books so it’s easy to flirt back and see at a glance what I read.  Here are my 10 favourites roughly in the order they were read during the year (I read approximately 111 books that year these are the ones I’ve just chosen for this weeks TTT:

  1. Soulless/Blameless/Changeless by Gail Carriger
  2. Rivers of London, Ben Aaronovitch
  3. Sunshine, Robin McKinley
  4. The Wise Man’s Fear, Patrick Rothfuss
  5. Moon Called/Blood Bound/Iron Kissed/Bone Crossed/Silver Borne/River Marked by Patricia Briggs
  6. Witch Light, Susan Fletcher
  7. Red Seas Under Red Skies, Scott Lynch
  8. A Game of Thrones, George RR Martin
  9. Neverwhere, Neil Gaiman
  10. Prince of Thorns, Mark Lawrence

Was that a bloody impressive year or what!!!

I love Mercy an Adam and even though I’m two books behind, it’s still one of my favorite series. I STILL need to read some Gail Carriger books. Maybe I’ll slate them for next year. I read Sunshine a few years back and it just wasn’t for me. I actually think I wasn’t in the mood for it when I read it and it’s probably a book that if I reread it, I’d like it better, but I don’t reread much so it will probably never happen 🙂

To be honest I don’t reread either. And I’m also behind with the Mercy books but I will catch up.

It was a good year! I also read The Wiseman’s Fear (must have been the year it came out). Sunshine is still one of the most unusual vampire stories I’ve ever read.

Sunshine is very unusual isn’t it. Wiseman’s Fear was excellent – I really long for the third book.

There are a bunch of books there that I recall with great affection – but I haven’t read Sunshine and it sounds as if I should. Thank you for sharing this list, Lynn:)

That’s evident by the selection of books you shared:)

I started keeping track of my reading around the 2010/2011 period as well, and yes I agree 2011 was a fantastic year for books. Even though I didn’t include them on my list, I also read all the Locke Lamora books and ASoIaF that year. I was just getting into fantasy, so I was hitting up all the fan favorites!

It’s about the same time that I was increasing my fantasy reads too so I read so many good books.

I loved Red Seas Under Red Skies. Even more than The Lies of Locke Lamora, I think.

It was so good wasn’t it. I loved the scene where they got caught by the pirates – the banter. Totally lol.

2011 was a brilliant year and one for me where I was just started to read more fantasy than usual – so it does stand out a little.

Oh my, the nostalgia! Soulless was one of my favourite books for a long time, and I still love all things Carriger. Moon Called is another great classic!
