July: My Month in Review
This has been a very busy month indeed. I hope you’ve all had a good July – I certainly hope you’ve had more sunshine than we have – although in fairness I did go to sunny Malta for two weeks so I can’t grumble. Anyway, this month I’ve managed to read 11 books – I missed a couple off my covers post so I’ve updated it now – can’t miss Spoonbenders and Graveyard Shift off now can I:
Books read:
- How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper
- Phantom Pains by Mishell Baker
- A Kiss Before Doomsday by Laurence MacNaughton
- Darien by C F Iggulden
- Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
- Godblind by Anna Stephens
- Blackwing by Ed McDonald
- Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory
- Graveyard Shift by Michael F Haspil
- Devil’s Call J Danielle Dorn – review to follow
- The Clockwork Dynasty by Daniel H Wilson – review to follow
My covers are here.
I’ve had some really good reads looking back at this list – Spoonbenders was a wonderfully excellent surprise, Devil’s Call I loved and The Clockwork Dynasty was also really good. Blackwing by Ed McDonald stole the show a little bit for me I must admit.

I’m curious about Spoonbenders.
Spoonbenders was so good – I really didn’t know what to expect but it was just such a clever combination, a strange family of psychics, the mob and a complex storyline that comes together really beautifully. It’s just so good.
Lynn 😀
Looks like you had a great month! I’m curious to see how you liked The Clockwork Dynasty, I’ll be reading that one soon.
Another month gone, where does the time go! You are so lucky to get A Pocketful of Crows! I hope that gets a US release soon. I’m also glad to see you snagged a copy of Stillhouse Lake – that was a fun one!
Yeah, I’ve finished it – very readable indeed.
Lynn 😀
The Clockwork dynasty is one of the titles I’m most curious about, so I can’t wait for your review! 🙂
Hope you get a chance to give it a shot.
Lynn 😀
I love the look of The Clockwork Dynasty – and thanks to you I managed to get hold of Spoonbenders, which I thoroughly enjoyed:). I have also just finished Artemis, which I LOVED. This is an excellent month’s reading and I’m glad you had a lovely time in Malta. I hope that August proves to be another awesome month, Lynn:)
Thanks – I hope your August is excellent too.
Lynn 😀
So pleased to see even though you were busy, you’ve still managed to read so much, although I’m sure two weeks in the sun helped 🙂 I must admit I was very tempted to request Artemis by Andy Weir and A Pocketful of Crows by Joanne M Harris, but thinking about my large review TBR I have managed to resist…so far anyway! My July was a quieter and calmer month for me, which gave a bit more time for reading, cooking and adaptation watching 🙂
Yep, being away for two weeks definitely helped give me more time to read. I’m really looking forward to Andy Weir and Joanne Harris, I am trying to cut down on requesting review books but those two I simply couldn’t resist.
Lynn 😀
