Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
Planet “Any planet is ‘Earth’ to those who live on it”
This week I’ve gone for: The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein.
Oddly enough I like the fourth cover. It just feels really retro:

Which is your favourite?
Next week – A knife
Future themes:
28th July 2017 – The kindest use a knife, because the dead so soon grow cold (A cover which features a knife)
4th August 2017 – From the ashes a fire shall be woken (A cover which features fire)
11th August 2017- No soldier outlives a thousand chances (A cover which features a soldier)
18th August 2017 – The world was my oyster but I used the wrong fork (A cover which features food)
25th August 2017 – If I be waspish, best beware my sting (A cover which features an insect)
1st September 2017 – Being born in a stable does not make one a horse (A cover which features a horse)
8th September 2017 – That great condenser of moral chaos, The City (A cover which features a city)
I like the middle one in the second row.
Yeah, I like that one too. 😀
Nice covers, I really like the retro one too, and the first one is grabbing my attention as well.
yeah, that first one is good – I think it’s possibly the most uptodate.
Lynn 😀
My favorite is the second from the left in the first row: I love the mood it projects.
And I have fond memories of this novel, even though it might not work anymore by modern standards and sensibilities, it still holds a special place…
Actually, i don’t think I’d really looked at that cover properly – it’s really good.
Lynn 😀
Great covers. I love the retro covers very much, but there is also something about the first one on the second row that appeals to me too.
Ooh I love these cover features. I agree that fourth cover is SO retro (which I kinda like) and I would pick that one too. I like the second one too in kind of a darker way, but the fourth one is definitely my fave.
I like that dark cover too – now I’ve properly looked at it 😀
I’m not usually one for all-text covers, but oddly I find the first one in the second row really appealing!
That does seem to be a popular one. It puts me in mind of a few others but now I’m thinking about it I can’t come up with a specific example.
Lynn 😀
I love these covers – and as ever – a great choice for this FF, Lynn. My favourite is the 7th one which is another wonderful retro cover with lots of drama:)
I do love the retro 😀
I thought this was going to be easy; i always love SF Masterworks covers… but I’d actually choose the fifth one. The simple black and white, the awesome font, and the stars… it really appeals.
It’s a good choice. Lynn 😀
Having never read this or sadly anything by Heinlein (yes, I know this a heinous crime!), I can’t say which cover suits the story best. However I like your cool retro cover choice as well as be quite taken with the purple SF Masterworks’ cover too 🙂
PURPLE !!
Of course.
Lynn 😀
