‘You better think of something fast, because, if he turns me into a mummy you’re the first one I’m coming after.’

Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy .   This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers.  The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite.   Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:

Mummy “It shuffles through the dry, dusty darkness – a cover which features mummification

This week I had a few possibles but I decided to go with The Mummy by Anne Rice.  I haven’t actually read this book but …. that’s the way it crumbles.  Here are the covers:

And my favourite:

Next week – Guitar

Future themes:

16/06/2017 – Guitar “You couldn’t not like someone who liked the guitar”

23/06/2017 – Cat “In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this”

30/06/2017 – Hat “It is always cruel to laugh at people, of course, although sometimes if they are wearing an ugly hat it is hard to control yourself “

07/07/2017 – Gold “All that is gold does not glitter”

14/07/2017 – Boats “The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea, in a beautiful pea green boat…”

21/07/2017 – Planet “Any planet is ‘Earth’ to those who live on it”

This is probably totally biased because my copy has that particular cover, but my favourite is the gold one.

    • @lynnsbooks

To be honest – it was a very close second for me.
      Lynn 😀

I agree Lynn, I love your favorite cover the best as well. I’m joining in today, and I nearly chose this book but decided on something else. It’s fun to search for covers!

    • @lynnsbooks

I had a couple of other choices – I was actually fancying Frankenstein – as a bit of a cheat – reanimated dead tissue??
      Lynn 😀

LOL on the title of you post! As usual you thought of a very catchy one 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

Haha – I could find lots of quote material from The Mummy.
      Lynn 😀

  4. Carmen

    I like the last one.

Oh yes… a great choice of book, Lynn. And I completely agree with your favourite cover, too. While I also like the shiny gold mask of Tutankhamun, the other two don’t come close. Have a great week-end.

    • @lynnsbooks

I also liked the shiny mask.
You have a good weekend too. 😀

I also like the mummy wrapped cover! Looks so mysterious! Great picks! Here’s my Friday Face Off:

    • @lynnsbooks

I do like that cover – I also like the shiny one in fairness.
      Lynn 😀

I definitely agree with you on this one! Love the sinister eye and dirty bandages. Very creepy! 😀 The other covers definitely don’t compare!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah – I think you nailed it there with the dirty bandages – adds an edge of authenticity.
      Lynn 😀

Tough one this week! I didn’t even think of Rice’s The Mummy, though I should have (shame I haven’t read it though, sigh…). I’m not really in love with any of the covers this week, but I think I would have gone with your choice too 🙂

  9. jessicabookworm

Haha I love the quote in your title – such a fun film 😀 And I agree on the cover, it has to be the eye peeping out of the bandages!

    • @lynnsbooks

I love that Mummy film – and I see it’s been remade – must watch and see how the two compare.
      Lynn 😀

      • jessicabookworm

I am torn by the fact they have remade it…I will probably see the new one at some point, but I am not rushing as it has a lot to live up to for me!

      • @lynnsbooks

Me too – I will watch it but I love the film with Brendon Fraser and Rachel Weisz so this will have a lot to prove.
        Lynn 😀
