The SPFBO ’17 : Cover Off

Today is a day for a SPFBO ’17 post methinks.  I’m a little behind with looking at all my books and I haven’t posted an introduction or wrap up piece yet – but I will get there.  However, and not to jump the gun, as last year all the bloggers are submitting three of there assigned books for a cover art contest.  If you’re a bit of a cover tart like me then you’ll love this!  Plus, it gives at least three of your books a shot at winning a ‘best cover’ title – which, considering there are three hundred entries and only one winner, it wouldn’t be a bad thing to get a ‘best cover’ award under your belt now would it, not to mention a little bit of extra focus on your book?

So, as last year, my book covers are all laid out below for you to feast your eyes on.  My list of books and authors is at the bottom of the post plus a link to Mr Lawrence’s blogspot for a bit more information.

Here be my covers (with one omission as I don’t seem to be able to find a cover for Wishful Thinking by Jim Beach – if the author wants to point me in the right direction then I’m happy to update.  Similarly – if I’m using out of date covers for any of these and any authors want to change their covers please let me know.)

Justin Sloan – Land of the Gods /
Elizabeth Baxter – Everwinter /
Charlotte E. English – Faerie Fruit /

Hmm… your batch doesn’t have many gems for the eyes this year Lol My faves are: Search of the Lost and The Empire of Dead (which for some reason, reminds me of The Alloy of Law?)

    • @lynnsbooks

Empire of the Dead seems to be catching the most attention.
      Lynn 😀

Empire of Dead is probably my favorite of this batch. And for some reason, my eye is pulled towards Fixer, so I’ll say thats my second choice.

    • @lynnsbooks

Empire of the Dead is a great cover – I really like it.
      Lynn 😀

Oh I sure hope there will be another cover competition this year! Right away The Empire of Dead jumps out at me, like DJ I got major Brandon Sanderson and Alloy of Law vibes from it.

    • @lynnsbooks

Yes, there is another cover competition – I suppose I better pick my three covers!
      Lynn 😀

For obvious reasons you will certainly understand 😉 the cover for “Goblin Fruit” is the one that stands out for me: that lifeless hand holding the piece of fruit is more than attention-grabbing. I also like “Spark of Defiance”, because it’s impossible to resist a dragon’s lure 🙂

My favourite covers are Faerie Fruit, Road to Shandara and Land of the Gods 🙂

  6. sjhigbee

I loved Spark of Defiance, but they are all reasonably strong.

Wow, quite the range of covers! I really like The Saga of Dirt and Poncho, for some reason. It’s unique! Also Land of Gods and Spark of Defiance.

    • @lynnsbooks

There’s actually something about that cover isn’t there! Very simple and yet quite eye catching.
      Lynn 😀

That’s weird. The cover for Darker Things is waaaay old. Not sure why that’s the one showing. 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

To be honest that’s the first cover that shows up when I typed in the name and author into Goodreads. If you have a preferable cover then let me know, I’m happy to change it.
      Lynn 😀
